We filled up the last one. So here we are again.
Yes, I don't really like house cleaning. I do like the results. But I also like the sense of accomplishment when I get things done. I also enjoy that same good feeling when I do good things outdoors. Or any job well done. It is an addictive feeling. And it makes me want to do something to earn it again.

Yesterday when I called Rachel to tell her I had no internet, and told her to message Junie to let the forum know....she said "Start calling them tomorrow morning, and call every 2 hours....they will get it fixed!" Guess she was right! thumbup

Hey everyone and happy 4th! I ran a midnight race last night, never done that before, and it was a lot of fun. Today I'm just sitting around and relaxing until it's time to make dinner. I had a bad day at work yesterday and it's really nice to be able to have an extra day.

Bill your display is great---no matter if you made it this week or many years ago---It sure made me smile thumbup

Cindy---I am so glad that you got them to fix your internet, etc. so soon---and ya gotta wonder, what was the hold up in the first place ?---They apparently had no problem fixing it..sometimes ya gotta wonder about people why

Thanks to you all about the graphic---I tried---

Cheryl---that run sounds like fun--and in this heat a wise choice. Sorry about work--hopefully the next time you are at work, your day will be better

extremely quiet, low-key day here--I did manage to get 4 loaves of zucchini bread made & 6 shortcakes though.

I am so glad you have your internet back, Cindy!
It is very cool here for a Fourth. But finally the temps are rising and the coastal clouds are moving out. June gloom is usually finished by now. I am not complaining. It is supposed to begin heating up from now on.
It has been a long busy day already and it is only noon. I'm thinking a nap is on its way.

I'll take some of your rain and trade you some mild sunshine. Later this week I can trade you some higher heat.

I want in on this deal...everything here is burned up...all the lawns are brown, trees are losing their leaves...crops are ruined already, there's probably no fixing them now even if it did rain. I would love some rain...I would go out and dance in it.

I blinked and I may have lost my kumquat tree. I really hope it comes back. The sprinkler that was supposed to cover it was not working properly. I need to stay on top of the watering stuff better than I have been.

hey!!! I want in on the water sharing deal also----I really do not want my water bill next month.

and now I need to add my trees to the watering schedule.

..I asked Rod if we had a lawn sprinkler to use on the newer trees & he is having none of it..says our water bill will be big enough---so I guess I will time a 5 gallon bucket & then stand there that long--(well for more like 3 times as long, or more)---better than nothing I guess...

I water the potted plants every night & the flowers & veggie garden either every night or every other night.

g'nite to everyone--sweet dreams

Good morning, still raining.

Yup, I'm taking trades for sunshine. I know I shouldn't complain but we have hay that needs to be made soon and the past few years the rain has taken over half of my crop. Not to mention the slugs and grubs are having a field day in my veggie garden.

I've heard of people saving their bath tub water to water their trees to save on bills, wonder if the soap does any damage to them? Because if not, one could drain their washer rinse cycle in buckets also I am thinking. I have a hard time understanding the 'paying for water' is it a set amount and extra for usage or so much per gallon??

That is how our water bill works, $30 a month minimum, last months was $90 I am not looking forward to seeing this months as I went to watering every day also. During the winter months it is always the minimum, but as soon as I start watering outside.... nervous

I think the soap would have to be biodegradable in order not to hurt your lawn...but Ivory soap would work!! My parents had a motel for 22 years, and my mom would use the rinse water for the next wash cycle. My washer is very close to an outside basement door...I'm going to have to give that one some thought idea

Having too much rain can be just as damaging as not enough...

Glad you are back among us, Cindy! Too bad you had to make threats!

I loved your firworks display, Bill

Way to go on the run, Cheri

Have a Great Thursday flwr

Good morning.
All of my gray water (Washer and bathtubs) has gone out to water trees and plants for over 20 years. All laundry detergent sold in Calif is biodegradable. Bleach in amounts used is not harmful in the ground. None of the shampoos and soaps and things have ever harmed my trees and plants. If it did, I am not sure that I would want it on my body. Only the toilets and sinks go into the septic system. It is a good thing. It is nice to live on a hillside so you can direct this to the downhill side and keep it moving smoothly. It is also nice the the house has a crawlspace underneath to pipe things where you want them. I would highly recommend this.

That's great, Tina. Not sure I can talk my DH into re-plumbing, I'll have to pick the proper time to broach the subject! Maybe when we get the next water bill! But I think it may be an easy thing to drain the washer water to a more useful location! Didn't do a whole lot today, tired from staying up late last night!! I'm hoping for a little more energy tomorrow. flwr

Check your local laws too, Bobbi. For many years gray water use was not legal here, then they decided it was OK. I know in Co. they cannot use rain barrels or save any rainfall or reroute it much. So each place may have issues with different things.
My grandmother had a simple spigot outside the wall her washer was on and a hose she could move around to her roses. I am not sure that was legal then but it would be now.

party applaud party We got rain last night, not sure how much and I don't have any update on our 2 closest fires, but it sure smells clean outside right now.

I do have rain barrels, 6) 55 gal drums, but did know that it was illegal to have rain barrels in CO. I'll find out about the grey water here before we do any re-plumbing, thanks for the heads up on that. I wouldn't have thought of it!

Sorry it is still raining, Sunflowers. We have many people here from North Dakota and it wasn't that long ago that many farmers up there lost everything because it rained for too much for too many years and they had no crops.

We are headed into town today, need to find something that will kill voles/moles or??? Also I need to take a practice run on my mototcycle pulling a trailer. My DH wants me to pull a trailer this summer on our trip. Guess I'll see how I like it!

Have a great Friday! flwr

Good morning. My dog used to be good at keeping critters away. And I had a couple of cats that took care of the smaller ones. My dog is slowing down a little with age and my cats passed on. I have had to become more critter diligent.
Today, I am working on my pond cleanup. A nice hot day to work in the shade and cool water.

My dog used to keep the unwanted critters away also. She was only 10 lbs but she chased any other animal out of our yard. She had our neighbors German Shepard scared to come to our house. We have a crab apple tree out front and one year I pulled in the drive and there was a doe and her fawn eating the apples. Corky bounded out of the car and chased that deer right out of the yard. They got to the alley and the doe decided she was bigger and turned on Corky, who came running back to the front of the car and literaly bounded into my arms! I laughed so hard wishing I had that one on tape haha

Going to a retirement party for one my DH's buddies that he worked with. Should be fun,
Have a Great Saturday flwr

Good morning. I have been getting some cleaning done. Not in an organized manner. But a hodge-podge works as long as there is progress.
Our temps are moving up to mid to upper 90's now. And humidity will climb in mid week. My coolers are not very effective in high humidity so I am not looking forward to that. And that is more like our August weather, not July. It will be interesting to see where the weather will take us.

It is actually warmer than it has been. I am thinking I will go out and fill my tank before fuel prices rise even more. I'll take Ted out with me for an outing. Gas, bank, some fun store we never get to and McDonald's. He will enjoy that.

It was 82° at noon... will probably see the mid 90s today, then cool back down a bit. It has been a beautiful, sunny week with more to come.
It rains too much here, but days like these make it worth the rust. thumbup

Hi all,
We have had rain for the best part of the last 2 days.. maybe my lawn won't completly die now... and it's cooled down so much we aren't running cooler at all... sure feels nice..! and the fires are almost out.. so happy about that, the governor lifted the fire ban today too...

I have been doing laundry and not much else today- I have been fighting my tummy problems for a week now- hate this ... happens once a yr or so and I just have to wait it out but sure gets old!

I make soup in the summer too sometimes.. I am the only one that eats it but some days it's all I want- got some jars in the freezer just for me.. good thing to do for almost expired or wilted veggies... you can open those cans and freeze them too if you like.. then make soup with it as you want.. I stick my almost wilted vegges in a freezer bag too and cook them in broth to make soup too..

Well off to do another load... have a good evening all!
Nana

I am glad for the rain for the fires and for your lawn, Nana. I read the fires were under better control.
I do not eat soup much in the hot months. It just doesn't appeal. I do eat a lot of fruits and veggies though. I barely turn on a stove burner.
Today I will be using the stove to crank out a couple of loaves of french toast for the freezer, though. Then I will have a few weeks worth to just put into the microwave.

Since we get the Denver news I knew you were getting rain down there, Nana, now if we would just get some. One night it rained, but not very much. We are still getting into the 90's and dry, dry, dry. Some of our fires have had a little rain, but our biggest had some thunder showers which helped, but also in the same place another fire was ignighted by lightening!

No soup for me in the summer! but I have been enjoying my vegies. DH has to have meat with his supper, but I'm good with just more vegies!

Just worked today and am tired now, glad you are having such wonderful weather, Bill. Sounds like what we should be having!

Good morning all, glad my rain has visited others...calling for a couple of dry days here. And it so cool and windy outside, just like October. I don't mind it one bit since I have grass to cut, gardens to weed and two steps to re-stain. thumbup

Good morning. Don't work too hard, Sunny. But I certainly understand using the good days when you can.
It is warming up here. I will lay low and water, water, water.

Just checking in...been sick, heading to the doctor in a few minutes.

Diane, that cabbage soup sounds good...think I'll make a pot when I get home. I have 3 cabbages, and probably more coming today. Everybody keeps giving me cabbage instead of green tomatoes! boohoo
