I would like to graft a branch of wild crabapple to my apple tree, so it will pollinate it in spring. I have never grafted before, so I need to know when to do this (what season), and how.

Can someone please explain?

Keith, there was a spammer that replied to this topic. He was poofed so it is gone now.
I did not answer because I have no experience with grafting.
