I'm from Central California, zone #8/14.

I enjoy gardening all year long in this Gardener's Paradise!

Any other year-around gardeners from zone #8/14 ... ???

Howdy - I garden close by in 9b! Pretty much year round as well, though it can get chilly!

I'm working on making a list of seeds to plant (early this year!) for the Fall/Winter/spring ....

I'd like to start planting some cold-weather seeds around the end of August, and continue planting seeds every week .....

Is zone #9b colder than zones #8/14?

What are the plants you've had the best of luck with that are cold-hardy?

Welcome, Jim. I'm in SoCal. I am also in zone 9. Or 18-19 according to Sunset Gardening. Elevation adds coolness to my micro climate. Are you talking flowering plants or vegetables?

I'm focusing mostly on flowers (including Edible flowers) and Herbs, with only a few Vegetables mixed here and there.

I'm not planting the usual summer Vegetables (Squash, Watermelon, Cantaloupe, Cucumbers, Pumpkins).

The summer Vegetables I have already include: Tomatoes, Eggplant (Black Beauty), and Beans (many varieties). I still have some Kohlrabi (some old and some new), Chinese Cabbage, Swiss Chard, Russian Red Kale, Red Giant Mustard and Southern Curled Mustard, and Radishes, and lots of Carrots, Onions and Garlic.

I'm planting peppers from seeds. My seeds are not growing, so may not be good (old seeds). I've already ordered more pepper seeds ....

I'd like to find as many flowers and Herbs (not shrubs or trees, don't have enough space) that will flower in the Fall, Winter and spring.

One of my goals is to have as many plants as possible that will reseed every year, like my Calendulas, Chamomile, Cosmos, Tomatoes, Sunflowers, Swiss Chard, Beets, Carrots, Morning Glory, Chinese Cabbage, etc. .....

It all sounds lovely. For self sowing flowers in my spaces I like sweet william and such. For me they bloom all spring/summer/fall and through the milder parts of winter. And reseed without becoming hard to control weeds. I buy many of my seeds here. I love their info on bloom times etc.

Thanks for the reference! I see quite a few seeds that I would like to order -- Borage, Caraway, Chervil, Summer Savory, and lots of flowers ...
