nice blooms! and is that the ditch you filled in with malva, black eyed susans and such, behind the pink blossomed tree? It looks like you have a really pretty place.

Just beautiful, Sunny, the flowers make me smile---I must say that you did a particularly nice job on the bed with the flowering tree in it---Do you have a bird living in your Bird house yet ??

---and yes I agree with Bobbie--you have a very nice place.

P.S. I love your hutch, it is a beautiful color, and & what I can see of the dihes inside. shewinks

It all looks so pretty! I especially like the lilacs - I only got a couple of blooms this year, as I cut mine back severely last fall.

I love your garden bed - the shape is so nice, as are the plantings.

Thanks all.

Yes Bobbie, the ditch is in front of the pink tree. It's about 8 ft deep and just getting to hard for me to mow.

Carol, thanks about the hutch..it was so cheap we couldn't resist buying it. I love when people re-do their houses and sell the old items at a bargain.

The birdhouse is from the dollar store and it's base is an oak spindle I got for a $1 at the hardware store because one end was damaged. Gave them a coat of stain that matches my step and away I go. thumbup

They were called "Ornamental (or) Wonder Egg Plants" or Easter Egg Plants, Diane...

I have seeds here someplace, I should plant them--we could start a new Thread---

Diane - gorgeous as usual!!!

Thanks for the reminder of the wonder egg threads. I haven't grown any in a few years. It's too late to start any from seeds here now, but I'm glad you found a plant with "egg" on it already!

Carol - such bright and pretty flowers. Any excuse to buy flowers is a good one!

Sheri - great idea to have a container side. Most of my plants need to be grown in pots this year because of all the critters that have been eating away.

This is the volunteer petunia that I've posted before -I think. It grew all winter in the freezing cold and has kept on growing no matter how hot or how rainy.

This sunflower has bloomed, but it is facing the greenhouse, and I had a really hard time getting a picture. I thought sunflowers turned toward the sun why I hate that I can't see this without manipulating it boohoo

They face the brightest light. Which is unfortunately frequently reflected light. My glads all face the white siding on the house. Your right getting a picture is a pain when they do that.

Below is my "White Swan Echinacea" I was relieved to finally see a few white blooms, but there are so many pink/purple ones---I am so confused. until there were the white flowers, I was sure it had been cross-polinated...

nice, Carol! I've never seen a white one. A few winters ago we had sub zero weather for weeks and none of my cone flowers came back tears Seeing yours makes me want to try again!

Very nice...

Cool weather doesn't affect coneflowers Bobbie..they multiply like crazy here and our Winters are horrendous.

I wish I could send seeds cross border...

Me too, Sunflowers! I had this patch of cone flowers for years and then it just didn't come back one spring!! I was very surprised. I'll try them again though. That was just a very severe winter and we aren't usually that bad. Also the deep freeze hit the first part of December, which is very rare! But lately I think the "rare" has become the "normal"!!! egad

Remind me Bobbie & I will try to remember to send yoiu some seeds this fall--

I have seeds from plants that my oldest DD brought home from her plant nursery job when she was 15. she was sada that the owner had put the unused flowers on the trash heap---

then I have some that I bought and some that Plants n Pots sent me one time--anyway I have lots--& several varieties--what are you looking for???

I agree that freeze should not have really hurt them--we have horrid winters & then we have mild winters---& mine come back no matter which

I have the Purple (it is pink)Echinacea

Then I have I have Coconut Lime
Green Envy
Tangerine Dream
Double Delight ( it is pink)

I have the white swan too, but not much---so that would have to wait..plus I would be afraid it would bloom pink for you.

Well the new lupines I bought have started blooming and of course they are not all the same type like they were supposed to be. rolz

Two are light pink and white and one is a darker pink..I'll have to re-arrange them this Fall and put the darker one in the middle.

Boy Carol, that is miniature. The ones I put out are a little more than twice that big. I'll have to get a picture.

Yep Sheri--and this one is 2 years old---full grown it will be like 24 inches tall.

I just tried to find the "paperwork" on my plant & could not find it, sorry.

Ikr sunflowers. I can't believe that iris is blooming. I've never had one bloom in winter and I'll bet if Lowe's had known that those Gerber's were going to look this good this far into the year they wouldn't have put them on sale.

I need help with this hydrangea please. I bought it 2 years ago, I think, and it hasn't done well at all. First I planted it in the ground and it almost totally died. I moved it to another spot in the ground. Didn't improve. I dug it up and planted it in this pot. It hardly grew all spring and summer. It's been in the greenhouse but as you can see it looks pitiful. Any ideas?

Looks a bit sunburned to me, Sheri - when you get red leaves like that it often is sunburn. My hydrangeas out front wilt in the morning sun but perk back up when the sun moves around to the other side of the house during summer.

it's been in the greenhouse for a few months now but I guess it could have gotten too much sun.

That hydrangea was small but looked healthy when I got it. When I first planted it I put it in semi shade and watered it daily for a while. Left it one whole season. Didn't grow an inch and started looking pitiful. Someone told me that it was getting too much sun so I moved it to a shadier location and watered. Still looked pitiful. Then I put it in a pot so I could make sure it was getting enough moisture. As you can see it's still pitiful. I think this spring I'll stick it back in the ground and let nature take it's course.

nope not really...it is 51*F outside and cold, overcast and damp. And it is soon to ger much colder and rain.

these crocus always come up early--they are on the east side of the house and are up against my house, and we have a full basement. Things usually come up early there, which after winter is a welcomed site. shewinks

Thursday will bring snow & ice--- cry

I picked this little flower awhile ago, because it won't survive the low temps we are having tonight with snow and freezing rain tomorrow.
Does anyone know what this is called?

I believe "iris" is in the name. It blooms early, before the crocus...and it's a tiny plant.

These are where my mom's house burned. I could dig up some bulbs and send to you when it's time. There's also some Grape Hyacinths that have taken over...they're not up yet, but they have little seeds and I collected a bunch last year...if you want them.

I think it is a "Dwarf Iris"...all the Dutch Irises I saw were tall...these are only about 3-4 inches tall with that big, pretty bloom on it. Looked just like the picture of the Dwarf Iris.

Is it just me or does it take ages for daffodils to finally bloom once they bud. I've been waiting and waiting to see the first flowers but they just once make that final push.

no it's not jsut you--but I think it has a lot to do with the weather--it gets warm, it gets cold--& back & forth. The poor flowers don't know what to think or do. Well I think that of my flowers here in IL that is...

My one crocus that the moles haven't eaten is blooming and so are the early daffodils. I should have planted them farther up the hill as their faces point slightly downward and I can't get a good look at them.
