I'm a new member and new gardener, I planted onions and bell peppers seeds directly on the ground. they are starting to grow and I notice my first mistake. I did not separate them and they are growing too close. Is there any way that I can separate them?

I also have three plants that are growing and don't know what they are, I have pictures but don't know how to post them, can anybody help me?

Hi...you will probably kill you plants if you separate them now, you will just have to weed them out to the right spacing....and we have all done that before. Onions can be spaced a few inches apart but peppers need at least a foot by themselves.

I use Photobucket..then copy and paste to this forum. Post the pics in the Mystery plant section.

~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.

If I know I am not going to be able to save the seedling, I cut it off with a sissors, right at dirt level. That way I don't disturb the roots of the plant that I want to leave growing.

I usually just weed them out, but I like the idea of snipping the plants. It makes a lot of sense
