Have very little ex growing transplants from seed, never grown stuff via direct sowing as transplants in green house.

Would grow lights in greenhouse be required?

I was wondering w/where I'm located, can I grow warm weather crops in an unheated greenhouse at this time of year? (cukes, winter squash, zukes, peppers, eggplant, toms etc.)

I understand problems it would pose if doing in Jan. or Feb cause of how far north I am (getting dark early, how cold it gets etc.)

However spring and weather is mild this year; very rare for where I'm at to not have snow on ground this time of year.

However it's a mild spring, and would they be protected cause of being in greenhouse?

Hi,
I'm a newbie with my green house and mine is not completely air tight... but I would get a thermometer that keeps track of how cold it is getting at night. that would best determine if your transplanted plants would do ok in a greenhouse this time of year....but you didn't state where you are from. Her in NE Wyoming I began, by seed, peas, lettuce, radishes and spinach. But this is an espically warm spring. I can't imagine needing lights in a greenhouse this time of year. I did not grow late into the year last year, but hope to try some later plants this next fall/winter. I have started a lot of seeds inside with a grow light, but not ready to put my cukes, peppers, tomatos, etc. outside yet! Happy growing!
