Hello,

I am new to this forum and I need help with my yard. My husband had a drought resistant garden installed in the front yard and it has some great plants in it. The only problem I have is do I need to do anything with them. I asked a local nursery and the lady told me to trim back a statice flower. Well I was cutting out the dead leaves and taking off the dead flower stems and a few weeks later it all started to turn brown. Nothing else had changed but the fact that I had cut off a few leaves. Will it come back? Can I help it come back? Or should I just tear it out of the garden? PLEASE help!! Everything I am reading on line says that they are easy to grow but I don't know what to do with it! :( I hope I didn't destroy it!

Thanks!

Welcome GV.
There are different kinds of statice plants. There are some annuals that only live a year and then set seed and die. And there are some short lived perennials. At least I have found them short lived. I do not know if yours is dead but if it is completely brown, I would say yes. And it may have little to do with the trimming you did to it. Drought tolerant does not mean it never needs watering. Or it can get too wet with some of our heavy rains. There can be many things that go wrong.
Good luck!
