Strange thing...last year we were pounded by rain and it was the first year ever that I had a large tomato ripen on the vine...the rain kept the frost at bay.

What are the number of days for those tomatoes Jimmy?? (from planting to harvesting)

I think the taste of a Cherokee Purple tomato is the best but this year they were shaped so weirdly they couldn't be used as a single, big slice on a tomato sandwich. JV did you have the same issue?

I agree they are the BEST for Flavor, but they sure are shaped odd, and look odd, I like to squeeze a little lime juice on them and use mrs dash table blend and let then sit for like 20 minutes, then eat ,, The BEST flavor ever!

I think I got the last of the Cherokee Purple off the vine Monday. I'll bet if we'd had a little rain in the last few weeks they would have produced longer.

I would like to know your secret for growing the Cherokee Purple Tomato, Sheri. A few years ago, I bought a plant of the CP & while the plant itself grew nicely, I got 2 tomatoes on it & they both went rotten before they were ripe enough to eat. My other tomato plants, several varieties, did well that year.

So what did I do wrong....

I ate one of my Cherokees today. Did they get blossom end rot? How were they rotten? I plant mine in the same place I plant my other tomato plants. I don't know why they won't grow for you.

To be honest I dont remember what the problem was, other than it was not bugs. The tomato would get half ripe & then rot...Perhaps I will try them again next year--we shall see... why
