I go past a sign all the time that says "custom draperies" and then a phone number and now that I need that number I can't remember where I see the sign. I was sure it was going to or from church but I didn't see it this morning so now I just don't know.

I found it and called her but in the meantime have ordered some drapes I found online. I'm waiting to see if the already made ones work before making an appt for an "evaluation and estimate."

They came today and they're ugly. They're going back. I'm going to keep looking for some ready made though. If you know a good online site to look let me know please.

I want drapes that are pinch pleated and have some sort of small pattern or texture. It seems most window treatments these days are rod pockets.

I have a rod that was made for me and I LOVE it. It has rings on it so the drapes or curtains have to be been pleated. I've looked at every site I can think of and what I find is either solids, which are boring, or patterns that need to be sheered on a rod. I didn't realize stores don't even carry drapes anymore.

I will take a textured curtain rather than a pattern if that's what is found. I just don't like solid, plain, boring.

Did I ever post here that I got new drapes for Johnny's room? He loves them and I love them. All I had to do was hem them which I did with stitch witchery.

I still haven't found any for my room. I saw a page in Better Homes and Gardens that had up green bamboo blinds that are beautiful. I just had to put hooks in my woodwork and I don't know if they will totally block out light like my drapes do now. The magazine didn't mention where to buy these blinds so I'm going to have to hunt them.

You place it between 2 pieces of say material and then you iron in in--and it glues the 2 sides together---It is great stuff. Look for it in the sewing section of a fabric store or say one at Wal-mart.

dodge, yes we have our own room. Years ago when Johnny came down with polymyositis he couldn't stand any movement around him because of the pain. So I started sleeping in one of the guest rooms. He's been almost totally bedridden for several months twice since the original diagnosis so I've just stayed in my own room. I sleep better when I sleep alone. Always have.

He's doing pretty good these days. I love my bedroom. It has 2 over sized windows that I can see out of when I'm in my bed. That's the room I'd like to get new curtains for but I love my rod and can't find anything to work with it.

Do you sew, Sheri. Rod pocket curtains are not that hard to make after all....That way you could make sure they would work with your exsisting Rods...

I do not sew and none of my friends sew. A few say they used too but not anymore. I don't even know anyone with a sewing machine or I'd get them to show me how to make easy curtains. I've decided against changing the ones in my bedroom because I want to keep my gorgeous rod and that requires pleated draperies but I do want to make or buy some light and breezy curtains for the dining room.

I sew a lot in the winter.. Long winters.. I make stuff an take them to the goodwill .. Help others help themselves.
I don't make curtains often, pain.. You have to be so perfect in all ways or they don't match each other. I try to scuff by them.

My sewing machine is very old--I bought it when I was 20. It is a Singer Golden Touch & Sew. The problem is the te4nsion keeps slipping. Over the years I have had it to 2 seperate singer dealers & they both said it was fine--well, no it is not. So now I have the generic machine of my DH's Aunt. I have not made myself use it as his other aunt said yea, she thinks it works--- why
But I must soon find out if it does. IF I ever get a grand daughter I intend to make her some clothes.
Due to the costy of the material I have not sewn for myself in years.

I found some curtains for the dining room at Pier 1. I can't get the link to open here but if you go to Pier 1 you can see them under curtains. They're called Bird On A Wire.

This link works for me. It shows that the curtains started out unlined, sheer on a rod.

As they are today after being taken apart, lined, and..................
