Tina--so sorry that you have to dig the ditch for the pipe yourself--BUT so glad that you are able to do so...

Sorry about the lack of fishies, but I am glad that you still have the pond....

well---time to bring this back up...

Yesterday I moved some of my flowers--- I moved my "Amber Wheels" Gaillardia (for the 3rd time this year) rolz
, so I could take my Buzz Blue Violet Butterfly Bush out of its pot and put it in my flower bed where the Amber Wheels was.--now next year I will have my purple Russian Sage on one end of the flower bed & my purple Mini Butterfly bush on the other end-- clap I looked thisd morning & both are doing well---

I also made a grid of this flower bed so I will know how many annuals to buy next spring.--see, each year I fill in my Perennials with a few annuals--this way I get to try new flowers.

Next up will be to mark where the exsisting Perennials are as I am not the bext at discerning between young weeds and flowers why

I love Blackberry lillies as well----
\and about E-bay--no I do not use pay Pal--I use "Bill Me later"----you go thru it and then pay pal pays the seller & then you get a bill in the mail from the people at "Bill me later"---so no one has to ever have my Credit card or bank information....

Ok Barb--I bought some Blackberry lily seeds just now--they will be coming just a few days after the toad lily seeds.

But, the ones I just bought are a lighter orange with pinkish edges---so this should be interesting to say the least.

Today I raked. We had some winds come through and pine needles fell like rain all over. And some cones too. So I was raking so that I could set up a tent for some weekend company. Next it will be a groundcloth and tent.

I dont know what I am doing--I guess I need to speak to Bill---
for my Toad lilies I think he said I could planmt them now because then they would go thru the cold winter before spring???

yooooo hooooooo Bill??

do I plant my seeds now (when I get them?) or do I wait until spring???---and this is E-bay so I dont think they will coem with directions. Although the auction said something about putting the seeds in the ice box for a month before planting--but did not say when to plant..

looky what I found Dodge--you are right, but I can still plant them in the fall---yea me----

How to Start Blackberry lillies From seed

Sew the seeds into the ground in the fall or spring by placing 1/4 inch in well drained soil, in full sun. If planting in the fall, cover with mulch to keep the soil a little warmer. If planting in spring, make sure you wait until there will be no more frost.

Well today was about the only day I've been out in the garden since spring. Weird huh? But I didn't get out there and I cut the weeds down on the side of the shed. Took the tops to the compost pile and mixed them in. Then I weeded the blueberry bed. I've lost one of the three plants. I put down the hollytone for the fall so that's done.

Then I used the hollytone for the miniature roses in the mixed bed and put the very last of it on the lavender azalea bush.

It wasn't much but it was something.

I thought blackberry lilies liked a cold spell before they sprouted. Not that you can tell it around my place the silly things will sprout wherever they land as long as the ground is soft. I have a balanced pH if that makes any difference with them.

Congrats on getting the lotus to germinate.

I've planted some lettuce in my new greenhouse and am going to try to start a tomato plant or two from seed. We'll see how they do over the winter.

Shari: A new greenhouse--wow that is great--I am so happy for you.

And yes the Blackberry lilies do like a cold spell,,,,so I am going to plant mine this fall (I was going to plant them all today but it rained this afternoon) so they will get a gopod long streatch of cold----and since they will be up against the house it will not be a severe cold....
I will also plant my Toad lilies this fall..........

Yesterday (not today) I dug up my chives & potted them---as my DH wants to move my garden---I will move them to their new home when the new garden is done----

(you see I brought this plant from "the farm" when we moved into town---at the time all I could find was the garlic chives and this is the common chive, so I brought the plant with me-----now it is the principle of the thing--- grin)

Mr. Rape, our carpenter, built it. It's just a small one but I love it. It has water inside and heat. I'm going to try planing tomatoes directly into the ground.

Hey, Bill & Cindy !! LOOK !!!!

Well, today, on the way home from the baptism I stopped at this Nursery that is just down the road from my DD's house.--I wanted to see if I could buy some Toad lily seeds for Dodge---well she had no seeds but she DID have some Toad lily Plants---they were buy one get one and the one only cost me $5.00---can you imagine??? applaud

I was so happy I took the 2 and gave one to my DD and kept one for me---
then when I came home I:
1) dug up my daffodils & moved them down so I had more planting room---
2) I then planted my Toad lily plant, my Blackberry lily seeds and my Toad lily seeds (the seeds are (Tricyrtis Hirta) ---yea me !!!!
Below is the picture of my toad lily plant--(Tricyrtis Empress).

I replanted my big pot on the front porch for the fall....
I planted 3 small pots of yellow mums and 1 pot of blue Asters in the pot--My spikes that were in the center are still ok so I just planted the other 4 plants around them....Below is a picture of that project:

Well I really did this last weekend, but I transplanted my hubbyies red bud trees and planted a basil plant I bought to groe this winter inside, so I can eat it with my cut up tomatoes on pasta..--

last night I brought in to the garage the 2 potted red bud trees and 2 of 3 pots my chive plant that I potted when Rod destroyed my garden this fall---one I will keep in the house for winter use & the other I will put in the basement to let go dormant. I will repant it next year when we redo my garden in a different location---I am particularily partial to this plant...it is my Chive plant from "the farm" I just could not leave it there.

I cut a few little trees out of the daylilly. Acorns are falling like crazy and little oaks are springing up everywhere. I hate when that happens. We're having the garden spot tillered tomorrow. I'm trying a new compost method where I put the compost directly into the garden spot - covered with dirt of course. This way I don't have to haul it from one place to the other in the fall.

That sounds like it should work nicely, Sheri. And if nutrients and stuff does leach out of it, it will be in the best place for it. No waste.
