I haven't been on in a while either... Good to roam around the place again. Picking out a site and planning a new "salad garden". Should be an adventure, I have to kill off the crabgrass first, and use plants that can stand heat.

Hi Afgrey! We bought a house in 2010 that was a foreclosure. It came with a badly neglected front and back yard. The "lawn" is nothing but crabgrass, some other grass like looking stuff and assorted weeds. Eventually the whole thing with have to be ripped out. We did take out a bunch of bushes by the house and a ficus in the front yard. The ficus had to go because its roots will rip our main drain apart, if we left the tree up. Lucky it was too young to do any damage yet. I have now gotton a lot of Southern Caif "native" plants by the house. They are starting to get the look I wanted. Its been a lot of work, but worth it!

Worst thing to deal with in this yard is the 8 walnut trees...you can't mow without hurling walnut bombs into the side of the house....and the lawnmower blades are no match to walnuts. boohoo

walnut bombs! LOL Watch out! We don't have any nut trees, but did inherit 2 very large rose bushes. They have been there a while. "Peace" hybrid Tea roses. They look beautiful in bloom. I finally got them all cut back. There are two others that I am not sure what they are. They need to bloom.
