I have had this plant for 35 years now. Over the years it's had its ups and downs, but recently it started getting these black spots on one or two leaves. I've removed those leaves, only to find others with the spots afterwards. It usually takes about a week for the next leaves to get the spots. Otherwise the plant is pretty healthy now. Not over or under watered. I don't see any bugs on the under side either.

It looks like a bacterial fungus of some sort.
High humidity can cause it, misting can spread it.
Is that a possibility?

No chance of high humidity, Bill - it's in the bedroom where it's so very dry from the heater. As a matter of fact, this plant is just above the baseboard heater. I never mist the plants there. Hmmmm?
