Has anyone besides me repaired plastic flower pots? I use plastic pots for a lot of my larger indoor plants due to weight/cost of terra cotta but, they are prone to damage as well. So over the years I repair them when light damage is done to prolong their life.

Easy repair. I buy all plastic pots in terra cotta color so it is easier to find something standardized and close for color matching.

A hole/crack in a plastic pot. Here are my steps.

I clean and dry the damaged pot
I cut a margarine bowl into sheets (side portion)

I hot glue a piece of the margarine bowl over the hole/crack on the inside and press it over the hole

use enough hot glue that it oozes from the damaged area and fills the hole.

Use sandpaper to level it out once cured.

Dust with red oxide primer spray paint on the outside to somewhat match color to the pot.

If the pot is faded lightly dust the whole pot with the red oxide primer.

Play around with it. Several times I repaired the rim where you pick the pot up using replacement plastic the same way using cat litter containers cut into sheets and formed into the same shape. of the original rim. I then rubbed a light coating of hot glue over the entire rim and gave it a rough look and hid the damaged area completely.

Well I only do this with some of the thicker larger ones like the one that has a banana tree in it. It is a cheap and quick fix if I like the pot and want to use it a few more years.
