Hi everyone, We are having trouble with cannas. They seem to grow well with no yellowing leaves that would indicate disease. However, about 1-2 days after the flowers open the flower stems break about in the middle and fall down. The rest of the plant is unaffected. Any thoughts? Thanks!

It sounds like they get top-heavy with the flowers and that you have weak stems. An all purpose food should help with future blooms and keep your stems sturdier. It is the nitrogen that helps with strengthening the stems. But too much and it will cost you in blooms and root health. So a balanced fertilizer is best.
