Okay I'm starting to get worried. I have a TON of green tomatoes, nice size tomatoes. On some really nice size tomato plants. However they have been green for quite some time and after looking at two I'm starting to worry. It seems that where the stem is going into the tomato, there is some brown forming. My plants are getting late morning to afternoon sun. Is this enough sun to ripen them up or should I just be patient?

Thanks All

Now into July and still no red tomatoes. I must have over a hundred on the vines and they are about 6 feet tall. If and when they do ripen I will have a bumper crop.
I've been keeping and eye on them to make sure that no varmits get to the green ones and insects are at bay and so far so good. I have to admit they are the beautiful.

Also I decided that I really really want a home grown tomato so I picked one that had been on the vine the longest and put it in a paper bag with a green banana and it is turning red. Maybe by later this week I can enjoy at least one tomoato.

One last thing, to force the plants to ripen the fruits, I decided to clip off any new buds. I'll update my post next week and see what the results are from doing this.

We finally got a few red tomatoes this week, so don't give up hope on the green ones. Mine don't even make it home. My daughter and I always eat the strawberries, and now the tomatoes, while we're out in the garden.
