Got a call early this morning that my mom's house was burning...



My dad was asleep in his hospital bed and woke up from loud crackling noises, my mom had just gotten up.
Mom managed to get dad up and in his wheelchair while the fire was coming down the walls in his bedroom from the attic. Her phone line was already burned so she had to run to my sister's to call the fire department.

I am so sorry, Cindy. These are devastating scenes.

So sad, Beautiful organs and piano, so many memories lost, But What's most important is that your Dad,Mom and Niece are okay,,
Is the Red Cross providing them Shelter?

Mom is staying in my old trailer at the farm...she won't leave.
It's a freaking nightmare here...

PS...none of the kitties have been found alive.

I'm sure your mom is still in shock of it all How is your Dad?

There are no words to describe how these pictures make me feel. I'm glad your parents got out okay, that fire looks like it was horrid.

I have a 3 year old girl and we're blessed with so much extra clothing and toys. Would it be of any help to send you a package of some nice things for your niece? You can reply here or send me an email.

My feelings too Cindy wish i was close so I could help what size shoe, shirt, Trouser's does your dad wear maybe I can help out that way. Sorry I don't have any women's clothes gave Billie's to a mission a few years ago.

Thank you, Jimmy...It's hard finding clothes for my dad...he weighs over 350 lbs. Rachel went somewhere in Cincinnati and bought him a lot of 3-4X pajama bottoms and t-shirts, she is coming down Friday...so that is enough to do him for awhile. He is in a hospital bed or wheelchair all the time, so that's all he wears. And he can't wear shoes...he has big bandages around both feet...they look like basketballs they are so swelled.

A bit of an update...

As I posted in Coffeehouse, my dad is now in a nursing home 2 hours away, so it's not easy to go see him.

Ray (dad's 25 pound cat) came walking out of the woods today...gone 6 days. We assumed he had died in the fire. The other kitty was found burned up in the house.

Asking for continued prayers for my mom and dad.

but so nice to hear that "Ray" was found alive----will your mom keep him??? That could be a reason for her to keep going---(to care for the cat)

Thanks, you guys. Mom has this little teeny Jack Russell named "Itty Bitty"...she was so upset that she refused to leave the burning house. The firemen carried her out and we had to lock her up to keep from going back inside. That night mom had to go down into the still smoldering house at 2am and try to get her out again...she wants to be in my dad's bedroom there. So, I took her to my dad's the other day...she was so happy to see him. Now that he is in the nursing home we had to take her back to the farm, but she is doing better now, she doesn't go into the burned house looking for my dad.

That is a sweet story, Cindy. It is good to hear some good for the little dog coming out of it all.

Yes, a very nice story--I think animals are smarter than we give them credit for sometimes---

A very special "Thank You!" to cagardengirl for the package she sent Rebekah.

Rebekah got one of her favorite things...a tea set. She said "I was thinking I could not live long without a tea set!"




Toys...lots of TOYS!





(I tried to talk her into giving me one of those Beanie Babies but she wouldn't part with any of them!)

She insisted that she was wearing this beautiful new dress to school today...so she did.



There was so much in that box...geez, the postage alone was almost $20.

It was our pleasure. I just know how my own daughter would feel if something like that happened to us and I felt for your niece. We know the most important thing was that the family was saved and as many animals as possible. But having some "stuff" to make things seem more normal can sometimes help kids feel a little better. She is a beautiful girl. I'm glad we could help make her smile. By the way, the dress she wore to school was my favorite. So Cute!~Beth

That is a very awesome package! She looks so great in that dress.

When she was unpacking the box and saw that dress she said "This is my favorite!" I said "You haven't seen the rest yet" and she said "This one will still be my favorite!". She made me go outside and "make a movie" of her dancing in that dress before I got her to sit in the chair for a picture.
