We had the worse hail storms last night that I have ever seen. It totally destroyed my trees and plants, ripping and shredding and pummeling almost every plant in my gardens. It's a complete mess. I am so depressed I don't know where to start to clean up. I realize my damage is minor compared to those who lost their homes or loved ones...I just need to vent.

Oh alan I am so sorry. If I could run over to your place I'd help out. You definitely need to move closer. With my garden I'm always of two minds about how to start. One is to tackle the hardest job first so that I am freshes for the most difficult part. The other way is just to start at the front door and keep going until I run out of energy. Either way works, it just depends on my mind set.

One thing I do know is that it's best to start before the depression really gets a hold on me or I may not do anything the rest of the growing season and that makes next year awful.

My prayers will be with you also.

So sorry to read this, Alan! I don't know what is Mother Nature's problem this year, but she certainly is going off with a vengence everywhere!

I hope you are able to make sense of what is left, and look forward to new beginnings at your place.

Thanks everyone for your concern....I really appreciate it.

Well, after surveying the damage I am lucky that more wasn't damaged. Most of my plants will be OK after a while...a few were completely destroyed, and it gives me a reason to buy more! (as if I really needed a reason!) My roof was damaged, my gutters look like they were shot with buckshot, the siding on my house and garage have holes everywhere, and there's water damage on my bedroom ceiling from a roof leak.

Now, talk about timing...We were considering replacing the gutters and had called gutterguard to come give us an estimate. The guys were actually here when the storms hit and we now are actually forced to have them replaced.

Will insurance pay for most of the repairs on your place?
