Hello,

I have recently taken over an allotment. It has a long dry stone wall on one side which is covered in moss. The moss appears to have been there for years and is very dense. I have a limited knowledge of moss, that it is important and that i should protect it. The problem is that due to improvements that need to be made i will have to disturb the moss in some parts of the wall sooner or later. Can anyone tell me what the importance of moss is, and when, if at all, is the best time remove it.

It amazes me that when i Google moss all i get is sites on how to get of ride / kill it. touched

Please advise
