Finally something plantworthy to post this year! thumbup

A friend of mine bought an expensive hydrangea "tree" on QVC from Cottage Farms 2 summers ago. This friend does not garden at all - nothing! nono Two Sundays ago, I was at her house in pouring rain, and when I left I saw a small branch of this plant on the ground. I picked it up and told her to stick it in water and see if anything happens. why

Later that day, a large pine tree came down in her yard from all the rain. A few days later, she had a "tree guy" come out to look at it, and while he was there she asked him about the small hydrangea branch. He said "you will NEVER get it to grow, just THROW IT OUT!!!" shock uhuhh madd

Well of course that became a challenge to me, so she brought it over after she picked it out of her garbage! I cut it into 4 smaller pieces, dipped them in rootone, and potted them up in some moist sphagnum peat moss. Just 4 days later, this is what I saw!

These leaf nodes were not there when I picked the branch up 2 weeks ago, so I hope they will continue to grow and make little baby hydrangeas for us! My friend is silly and named her tree "Bobbert", so we named the babies "Bobbette" and "BobbaAnn"

how long did the cuttings take to root for you?

Every plant started out as a seed ,and then came the waiting game.
