I know we had a thread about our garden whimsey in the old forums, but I'm not sure if one has been started here yet, so I'm going to go ahead and do that.
I was working on my shed this afternoon. I cut back as much of the trumpet vine that I could reach on a small ladder - mostly on the left front side - Don's been complaining that it gets in his way when he opens the doors to the shed, and I wanted to put up more whimsey there anyway. He'll have to prune back the rest of the vines that I couldn't reach...
Here are some new ceramic celestial things I got at Christmas Tree Shops last week. It was hard to get a clear shot, but you get the idea.
And some lizzards that I got there last year - I had to bring them in for winter, as I'll have to do with the celestial stuff this year too, but it's easy enough...
I have 2 more lizzards that need to find just the right spot!
Diane - those stars, etc do not light up, but I was thinking the same thing! They are actually just ceramic, lightweight, with a crackle glaze finish, and will definitely need to be brought inside for winter.
Okay ~~ Most of you have seen this area I have here in this picure,, this is my sitting area filled with Angels, Cherubs and fairies , It is the area I go to collect peaceful thoughts and do a lot of my praying...
(I couldn't get it all in one picture and still didn't get it all But you get the idea )
on the opposite side of the yard of course is the rock tower, Willy Village ~You can go to DIY thread in gardners chat to view that.. But I also have elephants,, the elephant ears are just coming up this year just in time to shade the elephants from the heat!

And WOW on the hummer, did it ever feel better and fly away?
I hope so Triss. That is the second one that has happened to and I got to hold. I know the first one was OK. This one kinda disappeared when we weren't looking and I have high hopes for it.

I am so confused. If my photos are too many, Can someone delete them for me? It is too late to edit. I could go into my PB and move them and break the link.

We found a cow bell with the date 1878 stamped into it. Even has a cross ingraved in it,letters also can't make them out though. It has got to be cleaned up, quite strange.
There's still boxes of stuff we never looked through yet. that's next month's job.

Oh, we also found out that the little wooden seats that DH burned in the trash fire came from an old school house that was torn down 70 years ago. Cr@p.

Every time I've heard you talk about your barn, I've wanted to come and visit, Tamara. You really ought to look seriously into Ebay or something like it. Make a little pin money.

THat looks so neat! I'd love to have stuff like that in my garden but I'm afraid that stuff like that would be stolen or broken in a hail storm. We get some freak acts of nature here.
Of course ...,soo do we Sarah!~ we are both in tornado alley! I have hail damage on the ear of one of the elephants , and chips of things here and there thru out the garden , Strong wind gust have tore up my garden arch Twice BUt I just keep on keeping on ,, I just super glued it back HAHAHAHHAHAHA,,

Lynn, good thread you started here! Love your whimsey, particularly those brightly colored lizzards. I don't like the real ones though. They are all around my gardens, creepy.
Jonni, that's really neat that you got to hold two hummers! Must be somethin'! Every now and again I see one here. And Tamara, wow, I would love to meander through your 140 year old barn too! I bet you got some great stuff.
Whimsey here? Hmmm, got a ceramic/sand based sun, of course two new Wiley's in the garden, and a few scattered pieces.
Thanks for posting pictures, Tina and Diane - I love seeing how everyone decorates their gardens or outdoor areas!
Tina - I just LOVE that kokopelli piece that you have - he's a favorite here, since Amy plays the flute - I have lots of him around the house, and just put my first piece outside.
(see the pathetic arbovitae hedge in the background? Every year the deer eat it down to the trunk, as high up as they can reach, leaving them with a topiary effect - I had planted them to block out my undesirable neighbors! )
I put up 3 of these trellises on the deck, many years ago, to try and get some privacy on the deck from those neighbors - our backyards are wide open to each other's. I cannot seem to find a flowering vine that will grow well enough in small planter boxes to block the view. So, this year I am going to put decorations on them in hopes of achieving that effect.
I have 1 more to find a large piece for, and then I'll add some smaller things, and hopefully some plants too. It gets full sun from mid-day til sunset - any suggestions?
How about more people sharing here? Surely you all have [color:#993300]SOMETHING that is in your garden other than plants? ANYTHING???
I have lots more, but will wait til others post some of theirs... [/color]
Ok - 1 more for today - this cat planter sits on a maple tree up front by the mailbox on the street. I've had it for about 3 years, but this is the fullest the plants have been so far - dragons blood sedum, and another sedum (can't remember which). Don told me why it's growing so well today - the sprinkler he fixed covers it while watering the grass below!
Here is an old oak stump left after Hurricane Katrina. The petunias in the foreground are volunteer and I have lilies and verigated vinca vine planted there too. The little JD truck is solar and the headlights light up at night. I don't know why the picture is so dark, I'll have to try again.
I love all of your whimseys! I have a lot around too, will have to get more pics.
You are all showing what's in your garden but I have something from someone elses's. I saw this a few days ago but didn't have my camera. When I saw it, I was stuck in traffic right in front of the house.
Today, when I had my daughter with me to take the picture, traffic was light and there was a car right on my bumper. I'm sorry it's a little out of focus.

Jayhawk, I seen one at our Home hardware, they have plans every month for new garden ideas. it gives a pic and a list from their store to make the featured item. It was cute but not that large.
