A lady I know gave me a beautiful male Congo African Grey parrot today. She has been telling me for years I needed to buy it I kept telling her I couldn't afford it she started out asking $2000.00 today she gave him to me and delivered him with 2 cages one huge one for outside then another one for him inside.

He is lovely, Jimmy. How old is he? Does he speak a lot? How are the rest of the crew doing with the newbie?

me too Cindy she and her daughter got here around 12:30 helped set up both cages the one is almost 6 ft tall and 4e ft square it sits on the porch so they can go out on warm nice days I am home. Tina she said he talks and makes siren and other sounds as well as barks and whistles(if you can imagine one whistling lol) he is 7 y/o and healthy just had a vet. checkup he stepped right up on my finger when I ask him. The others took right to him coming over and talking sure was a beautiful racket then meeting each other and exchanging names and info. Sure am proud of him. Thanks for your kind words.

I wanted to make a video but had a houseful as well as getting my furnace fixed so it will heat instead of cool. Have a bad cold snap expected next week in time for SuperBowl.

Thank you Carol.He can say no I started to take up his apple treat bowl he placed a foot on kit and said "NO" then when I ask him if he was ready to go to bed he looked straight in my face and said "NO" loudly again. So he is already opening up a little which surprised and pleased me.

Wow, Jimmy...that's good he is taking this move so well...African Greys are famous for not liking change.

Cindy he has completely surprised me. He has let me rub his head and neck awhile ago I was on the phone and he came and listened the tapped the phone with his beak. He shook himself real good and yep you guessed it small down type feathers all over the floor had to vacuum again. He watched everything I did with the vacuum when I ask him if he was ready for bed he let me rub his back from head to tail then got on my hand and I put him in his cage saying nite nite I love you he said something I think was nite nite. Yes Tina I have 4 2 year old's in the house. He seems to be settling in fairly well.

I was expecting something like that so I was careful not to get y face too close. Have had that happen before with an Amazon.

Thanks Cindy I think he is adjusting real well very wise and regal looking boy . He eats more then both the Amazons as well as Trent. Him and the others keeps my vacuum running steady.

I love looking at your birdie pictures, Jimmy. I grew up with all sorts of pet birds, but now that we have 6 cats in the house, I won't be getting a bird anytime soon. So I am glad to be able to live vicariously through your pictures and tales.

Tonight Smoky (changed spelling of his name)tried to teach me to whistle. He would look me in the face whistle then listen while I tried. He got on my arm (got cuts to prove it)and sit there talking to me meowing and barking then he would say bird bird bird goes to bed easy but only after I play with him a while and getting a head and neck rub.

Dodge they sleep nights I put them to bed @ 5:30 nightly get them up @ 5:30 in the morning. He talks human talk just like Lola does and my JOJO did.

They need 12 hours of sleep daily. Covering them up doesn't mean they are quite they still talk and Smoky sits over there making cat meowing noise dogs barking whistling and saying hello bird. Here is an attempt at getting a video of him.

Me and Lola have "whistling contests"...she whistles a tune and I have to do it louder, then she does it louder, then I do it louder...no wonder my eardrums are shot.

Just watched your video...Lola does the same thing...turn a camera on her and she shuts up and gives that look like "What are you looking at? I can't talk!"

yes Dodge normally they all are talking @ same time. When all aren't Smokey is he talks all the time. He likes to say "come here" then when I go over and say something he says go then laughs. Right now he is quacking and laughing never a dull moment @ the Parrot house.
