I got a lovage plant last year from a friend. It is coming up nicely now. I heard to use the leaves like celery in soups and stews. Are the stalks the same? Just the young ones? What else is it good for????

Lovage stalks are hollow, use them as a straw for tomato juice.

Use mature leaves in place of celery. Leaves are strong so don't overdo. Good for soup, stews, dressings. Great for homemade chicken noodle soup. seeds or leaves can be used in bread or muffins.

New tender leaves are good in salads. I only use stems with the first appearance of new leaves, after the first flush of growth the stems are to strong and tough for my taste.

BF made potato salad last night. He said 'i wish I had some celery...' so I went and picked a young branch and chopped it up. Into the P salad it went. Yummy-o!
