I recently purchased this Dracaena (I don't know what variety)repotted it after getting it home, gave it some water..it was very dry. Four days later the leaves are looking dark/wilted and are falling off. It is sitting by a south facing window, maybe gets a little direct light here and there for a couple hours. I'm new to houseplants, so any help is appreciated!

Here's a pic:

Welcome, Momof8. That is a passel of kids! I only have 5 and broke them up into two groups, 3 in my 20's and 2 in my 40's.
That is one pretty plant. I think it is suffering from shock at having been moved. I believe if you continue to treat it as you have it should recover. Maybe add some B vitamins to the watering and get rid of any dried leaves.

My dracs are outside and in the ground for the most part. They suffer occasional freezes or sometimes drought when watering is not constantly maintained. But I find they come back from the roots to supply me with some lovely plants.
So don't give up. Even if it appears totally dead on the top.

It seems dieffenbachia is of medium toxicity to humans but very toxic to pets.
I found info here.
