i remember when i was a kid, my uncle used a kiddy pool for a pond when us kids got to big for it. he just tossed a blue tarp over it to cover up the pool look. and filled in dirt around it with plants. it looked realy nice. you wouldnt even had known it was a pool.

anyone else have any homemade ideas???

My father-in-law used my sons' pool as a daylilly bed. It worked out well. It was a big red mickey mouse head shaped day lily bed lol!

Two years ago, when Don had to remove the old bathtub from the kids' bathroom because it was leaking into the kitchen ceiling, we put it outside for a pond. He dug a hole, so it would be even with the ground, and set up an electrical line out to it. I had 3 goldfish and 3 fancy-tailed goldfish in it.

Also, I used a huge old satellite dish for a pond. I put one of those little wire fences around it (to deter the dogs) and added a '2 story' retaining wall (or whatever you call it) around it.

that looks so awsome lynne!!!
a satalight dish is a great idea!
also
old sinks,, barrels,,drums, anything can be used as long as it holds water, or you could put a tarp in somthing to hold the water.

i was talkn to a guy at work who build a 12 x 12 pond for his parents a few years ago, alls he did was dig a hole, tossed sand at the bottom and put a liner in. he says its done great, i asked if if ever sunk in around the edges cause nothing was holdin the dirt up, he said no i guess the weight of the water holds it up fine,
