Just got back from my mom's, the foot valve went in her well. Guess who gets to dig it up tomorrow night?? rspb

Oh well, better to happen now then when the ground is frozen, it rained so much the past while, it'll be an easy chore.

Edit Reason: Oops, 101 posts!

We're not gonna put you in jail if you go over 100 posts.

...I might just run this Coffeehouse over 100 (or 200!) posts tonight if I have another night of insomnia.

I try so hard to be good. Some days it is a chore.
I don't know if there is a limit to the turkeys, Tamara. I looked and did not see it posted anywhere and no one stopped me from getting the 3. The ones I got are 12-13 pounds (about 6k)and I know there are places around where if you spend $50 or something the turkeys up to 23 pounds are free.
I went out and got a couple more items from different stores before picking Ted up from school. I'm thinking about a nap very soon.

Hi everybody!

Lotsa rain & wind today and then a beautiful, beautiful rainbow around 4 PM.

Carol ~ I have to take between 2000mg & 3000mg at each meal & for each snack.

Also, drugs such as boniva haven't yet been proven either effective or safe for dialysis patients although a major study is underway right now. Depending on the results of the study, I might be able to switch next year.

Cheryl ~ I am not sure why this form of calcium as opposed to other types. I just know it has to do w/ my body's inability to rid itself of phosphorus (which is in food). Typically it is the job of the kidney's to pull phosphorus out of the system so without kidneys, the docs prescribe TUMS. The calcium in TUMS binds w/ the phosphorus and that allows it to be excreted through the bowels. Phosphorus molecules are too tiny to be caught by the dialysis machine.

I also know that the kidneys are the "master chemists" of the body. They are responsible for keeping things in balance & not just cleansing. Dialysis patients can't utilize many dietary supplements because the body has no way to use them. I am given a special form of Vitamen D during treatment & it is put right in my bloodstream.

It is a special price for turkeys. Stores are not making money on the fowl, but they are making money on the fixings to go along and incidentals that people are buying.

I agree they are loss leaders for the stores for sure- Carrie got one (free) it's 16 lbs- cause she works there... then I went in and got one free cause I spent over $100.. was supposed to be under 20 lbs and they didn't have any small ones so it's 22 lbs ..sometimes it pays to have a kid who works for the grocery store, that one will be Christmas dinner... more people to feed then... only have 9 this yr for turkey day so will eat the little one and the fixens... going tomorrow to buy those...
Well it is almost my bedtime so heading up there now... need to get some sleep tonight.... haven't been sleeping very well lately..

I never pay more than 99c a pound for turkey; to me, that is PRICEY!! It is much better at 69c a pound.

I typed a long post a couple of hours ago. Don't know where it disappeared to. why

Carol ~ I must take between 2,000 & 3,000 mg PER MEAL and snack, so I buy the TUMS 1000's and choke 'em down.

This isn't ordinary osteo bone loss. This is from an overload of phosphorous which my body can't get rid of because of my kidney failure.

Cheryl ~ I'm not sure what the diff is between ordinary calcium & the kind in TUMS, but I do know it is what my doc prescribed for me. He also must give me special Vitamin D during dialysis because my body can't utilize the other kinds. They put this kind right in my bloodstream.

I've had a sad day & I'm heading for bed.

Safe away home, everybody!

wavy Good morning, everybody!

I finally got to bed last night. I was too sad to go down at a decent hour but at last I climbed in bed & slept well.

I see my back specialist this morning.

I have been known to take my phone in with me and leave it on the counter to catch a quick shower, Carol. I have lucked out and not had to answer with the water streaming in the background though.

I do that too, and actually the reach is quite handy, Tina--but this is not a phone call I can take dripping wet. I will most likley need to go retrieve information & such---I really do not want to do that sans clothes. yikes

and you know of course, had I gotten up & just jumped into the shower then, this would be a moot point. rolz
I guess I really need to learn to do things in a more timely fashion

Good morning. It's my busy day today and also my Friday. I'm making myself rest and relax this weekend. I need it. The girls are going to their swimming banquet for dinner tonight so it's just me and the boys for dinner. No idea what we'll eat but I do know that I'm not cooking. Tomorrow is PT day and laundry. Either tomorrow night or sometime this weekend we hope to see the Harry Potter movie. Excited for that! Have a great day everyone. Merme, thanks for explaining about the tums.

I came right home from taking Ted to school and began dancing with my vacuum. I am taking a break to grab a bite to eat then I will be going back to it. Of all the housekeeping spectrum jobs, this is my second least favorite thing to do after dusting. Neither gets done often enough. None is ever completely done. I need to bring in firewood for our chilly, wet weekend ahead.

Now it is time to go and wash some dishes. It will then be time to go do some bookwork for my MIL.

Today has been busy but I got much accomplished. I saw my back doctor, too & that is always a big help. And I saw my Avon boss & she helped me prepare for the booth on Saturday.

I also had to spend a huge amount of time on the phone.

And I made all the arrangements for Maxi's trip this weekend. He leaves from his school at 4 tomorrow & returns Sunday night. So, I had to arrange four separate rides! (from here to the school; from the school to Augusta; from Augusta back to Portland & Portland to home!) ay-yi-yi!

But dinner will be easy tonight. Maxi complained about what I made yesterday so I told him dinner was on him tonight! lol He is making cheese burgers.

I guess nobody bothers to read back any more....

I love talking to myself.

My phones have the option of audio announcing my caller ID. So I can look to see who is calling, or I can have it set on "announce" for when I won't be near the phone.

I used to have a girl who would grab the phone on the first ring & hand it to me when I was in the shower! boohoo I'd tell her to wait until it announced because if it wasn't important I could call back. She'd forever stick me w/ a call similar to the kind Carol had been waiting for when you need to get information for the caller. Crazy!!

Now my rule is that the girls may not answer my phone unless I say it is okay for that particular call.

Maxi & I have been having the blues all day so tonight we played things I had recorded on our DVR... a comedy show we really laugh over very much & a very funny preacher we enjoy. That cheered us up!

Tam I hope you have a restorative night's sleep tonight & feel right as rain by morning.

Cheryl I thought your plans for the evening sounded pretty good! Enjoy your time w/ the boys.

Dodge it can be a good thing to shake up the usual menus from time to time. I do that once in a while... buy something I usually do not & give it a try. It gets me out of the ruts I fall into at times.

Carol if I don't see you before you go to rehab tomorrow, I hope you have a productive time of it.

My back specialist gave me a new stretch exercise he wants me to do. My pectoral muscles were surgically altered in 2001 & sometimes they get so tight, they pull my shoulders forward which causes no end of trouble w/ my back & neck. So now I have that stretch to add to the ones my PT has given. I think they are helping already! YAY!

merem--I can only speak for me---sometimes I read back & sometimes I do not--and then there are the times I think I read back & I still miss posts...

Sounds like you had a good meal--and to have Maxi cook once inawhile is a good thing---he will appreciate yoiur cooking for him more if he truely understands the job.

Stretching exercises are great---I have a few myself. thumbup

I understand about feeling blue sometimes---But Hopefully it will pass for the 2 of you.

Thank you so much about the well wishes for rehab.

I think I am about to get ready for bed.

Nighty night--sweet dreams to everyone.

I pulled a switcheroo today. I did in fact read back...everything that's been posted. But, I was in kinda a funk so I didn't post. Usually I jump in a post without ever reading back, today was the opposite.

Lola and this frigging kitten have had my nerves shot for the last 2 weeks, getting worse every day. Today I cried twice, which I am not allowed to do because the doctor said "NO crying! Your crying tears are like acid in your eyes." I haven't said much of anything (or nothing) about my eye problem...but long story short it's bad, and my right eye hemorrhaged week before last...that was real attractive for about 6 days...my entire eyeball covered with blood. Then these freakin' crazyass animals I have are driving me crazy(er), which is a short drive at this point.

OK..I'm rambling now...it's from the loss of sleep. Insomnia is my best friend.
