I sit here crying this morning, overwhelmed by the death of a young woman that I do not even know.

Please send prayers for the two young children of Sabrina P. She was a 25 yr old woman who lived in the same area that DD did a few months ago, she as well had an abusive boyfriend who had court charges to appear on as of Monday. She went missing Saturday evening, they found her body yesterday...the ex is now in custody.

I watched a video that friends made of her children and short life...I keep running things through my mind that if DD would have been smaller or her ex would have been bigger or stronger..that is where we might be today. tears

Diane, I am so sorry you are in this situation. I wish for you the strength to get through this, and come out on the up side. You're a very strong woman with a lot on the go, and I hope something turns up for you very soon.

Dodge - I'm hoping that your DIL's shots help her take her pregnancy to term, and that they have a healthy baby.

I cannot give you a number on what premature is these days--but I can tell yo this:
But I found this on the internet, for waht it is worth:A premature baby, or preemie, is born before the 37th week of pregnancy.

58 years ago I was born very early. My mom was between 6 and 6-1/2 months along--so that is 10 to 12 weeks early if I count right. and while I was only 3-1/2 punds when I was born--and lived in an incubator for 6 weeks--here I am alive & well.

So have faith. Your son & DIL have 58 more yrars of advanced medical knowledge to help them than I had when I was born.

Of course I will pray for them and their little one. :ding:

This is the info we gave out at the Health Department.

"A normal pregnancy lasts nine months, or about 38 to 42 weeks. Newborns are considered to be premature if they are born before they are 37 weeks old. Although there are many risk factors that can help to predict which pregnancies are at risk for premature delivery, in most cases, no cause is found."

Darbi, the light of my life was 3 weeks early. She is perfect and smart as they come. My twin nephews were born way early, weighed not even 5 pounds, were kept in the hospital for a while and mom was told they would always be small for their age. They were over 6 feet tall and wore a size 12 shoe in the 6th grade. They are under cover policeman right now.

Do you know why Trish is high risk? Of course the longer in the oven the better but she's on the down hill part right now so she and your baby will be fine.

Guess she's on bedrest.

Please everyone. My dear friend, Eckhart, an Episcopal Priest, died this morning of a massive heart attack. He was 49. He collapsed at home, they rushed him to our premiere cardiac ER and he died soon after. He leaves behind a wife & 4 children, the youngest of whom is about 3 years old.

Eckhart was Vicar of a neat missions church in a nearby community & ofttimes chaplain up at the hospital.

The community is stunned and deeply grieving.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Sending prayers for the family Merme.

Also asking for prayers again for baby B and mommy F. Results are in from the tests, only one side of the babies heart has developed during pregnancy. Mom will be put in hospital within the month(they want the baby to be as big as possible) and a c-section will be done with open heart surgery to follow for baby within 12 hours. tears

Dodge, all prayers always for mommy & baby.

Today we received the announcement that Eckart's funeral will be on 11/27, which is a Saturday. That allows for people to attend who work during the week & also all the priests.

I was in touch this morning w/ the Bishop's office because I'm concerned that the family may not be financially prepared to handle the unexpected costs of all this. They promised to let me know ASAP, particularly if donations will be needed. There are so many expenses surrounding a funeral & sometimes the family needs to buy proper attire as well.

Merme thanks bunches for prayers.

Funerals are no fun.
FOrtunately my nephew works for the one I had.
We cut the frills an made it bare bones.
Unlike the pastor who died.. Have no idea the costs there.
Our congreatios have the expensenses paid by the Diocese whom they worked for .

Not the folks of the church. We buried many here . But with a wife an children, thats another story. So much legal work involved.
Which I am doing now with the help of family.
Good luck.
Prayers for them also.

Yes, the Diocese pays for funerals of priests and ministers here as well.

Our local funeral business has been run by the same family for over 100 years, they even allow a payment plan for those who are in need...or if you qualify the Social services department will pay for basic burial.

Thats great tamara,

We paid my hubbys brother funeral, none of his siblings would give a penny.
Now I paid Hubbys when the bill was presented.

No bills here. Fortunately.

But my one sis prepaid hers into a cd an it worked.

Dont know they do it for others.

Ps......None of the siblings gave even food or a card to me for the funera.. They came here an to the dinner an ate, that was it.
Never ever sent christmas card either .Just one did .

However I been invited to my sons inlaws for all the holiday.
I am going .. Haley will be there.

Thats life an death.

well the "poeple" who just take & do not give, will one day "get theirs" so to speak, Barb. I am glad that you will be with family. that will be ever so nice, & helpful too !!

I have no idea where I will be....

Merme I do so hope that the funeral of your friend ends up working out. That can get to be so costly.

Today I signed Maxi & I up to bring food for the reception and to also stay late to assist w/ the clean up afterwards. One man is coordinating the food offerings, & he said he liked my plan so that was good.

The other reason I was concerned about the family besides the usual needing of clothes & whatnot, is that ALL his family (parents & siblings) still live in Germany. When they arrive, they will need places to stay & I'm not so sure everyone can afford round trip tickets plus hotels & meals. That's where friends will be needed if they are strapped for cash. It isn't as if they planned for a trip to the US at this time of year.

The family has requested people make donations to the Center for Grieving Children in lieu of flowers. Eckart has 4 little one, ages 1 to 11 (maybe 12), they might need to rely heavily on that program.

Step by step, somehow we will find the courage to attend this sad event -- a terrible day we never wanted to see.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.
