My camera is a panasonic lumix just the small version, it wasn't too expensive and takes phenominal pictures.

Hmm, not really sure but thinking she might like something with a good zoom on it..WalMart has some nice ones.

Picked up DD a new Canon Powershot on a special sale this past week for her birthday there, supposed to be an amazing little camera for the price, even came with YouTube software lol that could be trouble.

Canon Powershots are FANTASTIC cameras as are the equivalent Nikons. Canons and Nikon's are the two leaders in the field of photography. It's just what feels best and is easiest for you to use. The picture qualities and features are nearly Identical,, I would recommend the Canon Powershot S5 IS, as a good camera for someone starting out OR a professional it IS a point-and-shoot and not a digital SLR but is a SUPERB camera I think...AND, it makes movies with sound. My camera does not do that. The S5 IS has an excellent built in Macro function. I have to buy a separate lens to do Macro with MY camera. So I recommend the Canon S5 IS, myself.
