:yikes$Lowes I bought 2 begonia bulbs for $ 9.99 in March....They didnt grow at all . So I took my slip an the cardboard back to see what they would do.$10.oo to me is a lot of money. I asked the 2 ladies at that counter what they could do about this. They said nothing . You have to bring the dead plant in . I laughed an said it rotted , just how do I do that > Did you plant it they said. I said yes, and it didnt grow. No no no they said. So they hollered for the manager of the plants part. TOld him. I said this is completely ridiculas . Here is my slip an my card that held it with a photo on it .. In color .. How can you doubt me> (I raised my voice at that ) OK ok give her money back.. Tee hee I won. dodge

Good going, Dodge. Most of us don't bother and that is why they have the guarantees that they do.

I feel if a company has a guarantee like Lowe's and Home Depot, we shouldn't feel bad for taking advantage of it. I have returned several perennials that died or didn't survive the winter, with the receipt which I always keep. I've even taken back the dead stem with some dirt to show it didn't live thru winter. I spend a lot of money on plants and if I can get my money back on ones that die, I won't hesitate to do so.

I do not do busimess with Gurney's--ever. They sent me what wwas supposed to be a dormant clumb birch. It was a dead clumb birch. getting them to honor that warrenty was a nightmare. So, my DH put in a soft maple ( ) & we never ordered anything from them again. I really wanted a clump birch. That was a long time ago--the planted soft maple is around 30-40 ft tall now & was planted in 1987-ish

nope Dodge they think it is normal as that is their policy. example: We took back to Home Depot a huge tree that had died---dirty roots & all--they took it back & cheerfully refunded our money.

You must have the receipt to return a plant at Lowes, and the receipt will at least identify it as a perennial...but I suppose they wouldn't really know what it was if it's dead...and I suppose you could just return any old dead plant and say it was the one on the receipt. I don't think or would like to think most people wouln't do that, though.
