The picture quality is poor, but they look like little root buds sprouting from the stems of my tomato plants.

Are these caused by a parasite (bacteria, fungus, mite) or are they a result of the extremely high humidity in west central FL? I saw the same thing on a jasmine vine while on my morning walk which prompted me to ask about it.

Despite the west facing sun, heat, and humidity, my tomato plants are still producing new flowers and fruit. Albeit the fruit are much smaller than they should be. I thought the small fruit was because I over zealously fertilized in the beginning and its been so hot on my patio. But, maybe the plants are sick.

Thanks!

I should add that the growths are only on the side of the stem facing away from the sun.

I think it's called Primordia..anyway its from high humidity.

It's normal, and won't affect your plant..the plant is trying to compensate for the extra water by producing roots.

~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
