The answer to that one is probably.

I don't even know where to start lol.

I've been working steadily on making the property better.

I have a new computer since a virus killed the old one. And now this one is infected. I don't know how long I'll have access.

Or how long it will be before depression sets in again. It's been giving me a run for my money.

So how is everyone?

Get yourself a version of AVG Virus scanner. It is a free program. Also you need to set your settings in security higher and for goodness sakes make sure you have a firewall up. Those shouls help in the future and the scanner might have a fix for the virus. If you take both computers to a reputable computer shop they should be able to get them up and running again.

Also dont open any attachments on any emails, even people you know could have a virus they are spreading around, 1 last thing, when visiting a page that tells you that you have to download something to view it click cancel and dont go to that page again.

Hope that helps a little

Pindakaas I'll see about getting the software you suggest. I know the regular avg isn't free anymore but maybe I can save up and get it.

Merme I'll post something where I can do some pictures. It's still not much but I'm working on it an hour a day.

Tamara congrats, that is so exciting.

I've missed you too problem child.

I've taken to falling down. And I'm doing it sober if you can believe that. Twice I've damaged my right ankle the other times it just been scrapes and bruises bad enough at my age. Yesterday I was at the public library and stepped in a pot hole and down I went. Bless the librarian she called the paramedics and the town counsel. She was far more upset than I was. She is a lovely woman.

Lets see other than that I've been diagnosed with diabetes. Rather expected that since I'm 260 lbs now. Asbergers, a form of autisum which explans a lot of troubles I've had throughout my life. And bi-polar just to round things out. So is there any surprised that I felt like someone had blind sided me with a sledge hammer?...probably not hey?

Other than that I've found out that as a do-it-yourself-er I'm a dead loss. But I keep trying.

Oh My goodness!1 That is a lot of information to take on at one time...and so sorry about the falling.

Sounds as if you came back right at the right time. We are here so you dont have to go thru all of that stuff alone. Sometimes it helps to just have someone listen, ya know???

well for a month, ending just last week, and then for a month a few months back, we kept my youngerst DD's dog while she went to be with her DH in Bahrain (a small island country off teh coast of Saudi Arabia) he is staioned there with teh Navy & will be home sometime before Thanksgiving.
Other than that I have been working on my flower/veggie/mini water garden & putting up with my DH who has been laid off since the last of February, taking my MIL to her various Drs. appointments, & oh yea--I applied to be a part time teacher's aide at a Local Pre-school for in the fall.

Tk you surely have had an awful lot thrown at you all at once!

Like Juniegirl said, this is a great place to be when life is rough. It has pulled me through some very tough times.

I know it is a bit daunting & frightening to hear the diagnosis of diabetes, but please please do all you can to take care of yourself. Talk to your doc, your diabetic nurse educator, the dietician -- whoever-- take a class even. Just ask all the questions you need to, even if you think they sound silly. The more you understand, the more you know, the better equipped you are to manage the diabetes successfully.

Making lifestyle changes is never an easy task but the rewards will be so worth it. And we will be here every step of the way for you. I believe in you and know you can do it! thumbup

Can't wait to see pictures when you can post some.

I want to see pictures of your flower/veggie/mini water garden. Do you have any? Wow, layoffs that's really difficult. I hope you get the job you applied for. I'll cross my fingers.

I posted some pictures under 10 year plan. They aren't very good but I'm getting alittle better as time goes on.

I'll download it when I go back in to town to pick out my dryer.

Have you posted pictures of your granddaughter on here anywhere? I'd love to see some.

It was a cooler than normal winter here too, nothing like you had of course but I did have to put on a coat and was snowed in for about a week. Like you I'm really enjoying summer. Although spring clean up was a mess because of the bad sprained ankle last year. So the weeds got to multiply and all i could do was watch while they dropped seeds everywhere. Really has put me behind but I keep plugging.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of your flowers. Are you still growing orchids?

I want your design ability. Just wait until you see my hodge podge lol. The moles/voles got all of my crocuses and most of my tulips before I even knew they were here. And the rabbits man, can they chew through some dusty millers.

Is that cedar edging you have around the second flower bed?

just remember--Moles do not like daffodils.--so find lots of them you like to plant
I can't help with rabbits, sorry.

The flower bed casement is made with treated lumber... 2 x 6 x 14 ft long & 4 ft wide.

Bless your kind words on my design ability--but it is all just trial & error.--I move thngs & then try again m=next year--and really I began bu putting the smallest in the front so I could see the taller flowers in the back---(my kitchen window looks out on this flower bed, you see).

I hear you. I'm growing daffodils just as quickly as I can. The front right foundation flower bed has a nice row of them clear across. I'm slowly adding them to the sidewalk bed but it will be quite some time before I have a nice full boarder where I would be comfortable buying crocus again for that area.

I'm also harvesting a large crop of chive seeds since I understand the rabbits aren't all that fond of the onion family.

I also picked up a package of Alpine Rosy Bells that are suppose to be in the onion family on the ornamental side. We'll see if I can discourage those buggers.

Carol,

The good part. How neat the back yard looks with the display there. I remember when it was nothing.
Good choice for a view. You have more land than you say.

Now the bad part. My lawn is polluted with dandelion.. An moles galore in the beds.
I put castor bean in one so far to see if it works.
2 others died.

Dodge. we have 1/2 acre. if you pay close atention to the cut grass, where it stops being cut is where our land stops. This was all 1 field. Our house & the one to the north were put on the front half of the field. The back half was to be 2 more houses until the economy did a turn.

I'm saving the lawn for last. No reason to seed something that I'm going to dig up lol.

I've started painting the deck. Based on the progress I made today I should be done with all of the painting projects about the time it snows. I am so slow.

I dropped off the Thompson waterseal that was also the wrong purchase over at my neighbors and we got to talking. He told me a much simpler way to fix the shed. I'm glad I gave him the sealer he saved me a big headache. My skill saw was missing a piece that would have caused me all kinds of problems.

So now right after I finish off the grass cutting I can get right to work on the shed. Then it's just the matter of buying the white exterior paint and getting to work. So I'm a happy camper.

Back to discussing my garden. Even though I need to focus on the house repairs right now there were a few garden things that I couldn't resist.

Wal-Mart had an end of season sale. I ended up with: white and purple crocuses (60), Daffodils (15), Double Tulips (15) and a Red Crepe Myrtle, Dwarf.

I'm thrilled with the purchases and had to take time out of the maintenance around here to get them all planted.

I thought I answered this. I bet I forgot to push the submit button again.

The double tulips package had a picture of purple, pink, yellow, red and white tulips so that's what I'm hoping will bloom. We'll have to wait for spring to find out. That is if the moles leave them alone.

Here is where I planted them right now but it should probably change. I really want the beds intermixed so something is always blooming.

The tulips and daffodils are planted in a zigzag pattern surrounded buy alternating purple and white crocuses in three spots. Two bald spots in the sidewalk bed and one underneath the window in the foundation bed on the left side when your looking at the house from the street.

The crepe myrtle is in the driveway bed at the edge farthest from the house on the street side.

Woohoo I hope they are everything that you wanted. They make me look forward to spring.

I need to get out there and finish up the grass cutting in the front yard but I'm still in my underclothes. Just not up and at them this morning.

I didn't see any at my store. I've been looking at that stuff that is suppose to keep moles away but it is hugely expensive.

I hope you figure out what is messing with yours and are able to fix it.

Well I'm painting the masterbath and is it a pain. I've never painted on wallboard before. I know one thing for sure I'm taking off all those little strips between the boards and mudding them before I paint any other rooms in the house. I'm having to use a brush for most of the work is cutting in because of those. Major pain in the tail. And then I need 3 coats to cover the puple and green design on the wallpaper. But I'm learning alot about owning a mobile home.

What I want to do in here is a cream paint, black semi-gloss trim, black chandlier and over the mirror light. And a porclein sink. So I still have quite a bit to go.

If any one sees a small chandlier and over the mirror light in a matching style in black please please give me the link. I'm not finding anything that matches well. There are sconces but I am going to have open shelving on either side of my mirror so I don't have room for sconces.

Thanks in advance.

Divine Design is my all time favorite, Color Spash, before he went to Miami, and Color Confidental are my daily programs. I watch and watch and watch. When I was growing up my dad only like red so that's what mom decorated with. It was awful. And then she did a pink and white bedroom for me. Canopy bed and all. I hated it. I wasn't girly girl.

So I've always had places that looked like barracks. Little to no decoration at all. Walls were off white, ceilings were ceiling white, no wall decorations other than an I love me wall. All very military. So I need all the help I can get doing this. Most of the time I'm not even sure what I like.

You would hate my place.
It identifys us completely. Lots of favorite photos an items from family or friends . THey call my place a museum. I dont go into the gaddy walls. White mostly wall . Some paneling . Old 100 year old house.
Oak floors an winding stairs. Suits us.

2 famous paintings in the main room . From hd as a gift an one from son.
COrner nicknack shelf with lots of stuff from family. My rooms each shine with a purpose.
My computer room here is full of lots of seedy friends cards, photos an crafts.........Loving it

I have a design wall in what should be the masterbedroom. For me it is the mastercraftroom/food pantry. There is a half freezer and shelves for food storage. A sewing machine table. Plastic drawers for craft supplies. Water Storage in the closet. Fabrics from my quilting phase. The quilting frame. And the computer room here also has a wall of all the cards you all have sent me over the years. I love it. Not exactly Divine Design but it is cozy.

The other bedroom that actually has my bed in it has no decor whatsoever.

It's probably going to take me the rest of my life to get some semblance of style going but I'm willing to try.

Hey, TK

No harm in trying at all.
One east side bed room is actually my winter greenhouse. And another bed room is my craft an sewing machines. Serger an staight stitcher, table. My material in a small drsser inherited for one sis, another 2 dressers from a 92 year old aunt. Just died last year.
I cherish those memories. Antique oak dresser from dear long gone friend . Cost me $40.

An on an on .. I did up mostly at yard sales.

Definitely all of my major pieces are either friends or the DAV. I'm lucky he will deliver for a small fee.

What is the DAV?

Our favorite and most comfortable chair is an old rocker Johnny bought from a friend for $5.00. It's leather and all I did was clean it up.

Well the door I made for the shed started to fall apart. So today I glued and then screwed the trim back on. Then I added to 1x2 pieces to the back to help it be sturdier. I hope it remains in good shape from now on.

I wish your daddy had made me some doors. We need a new front and back door so I called Lowe's Home Improvement who is supposed to make custom doors, they came and measured and said they can't make me doors. Interesting. So if a car runs through my front door, God forbid, Lowe's can't make me a new door???

Yep--that is how my daddy & my DH does it.

And yes it works really good. the Z makes excellent braces.

The old door was like that. But I guess the door was maybe to big for that to work well? Or maybe it was just to old and rotten.

I did the reinforcement like a frame with a bar accross the middle going horizontally. Does that make sense? The on the inside I added a couple more braces. It seems to be holding up better now. Originally I thought about have a stall door type thing. Where the top and bottom open separately. But then I couldn't figure out why I wanted it that way. I forget things really quickly sometimes.

We make all our closet doors and barn doors with the 'Z' brace as well.

Tk, have you ever thought about trying a second hand or thrift store for a chandelier and light? You could always spray paint them to match..

about the only place to find chandeliers around here are the consignment stores and they are expensive. Way out of my price range. But I'll keep looking it can't hurt.

I think with the extra bracing I put on the other day I should be fine now. I hope so anyway.

TK, sometimes lighting places have great sales. You can get something cheap and paint it.

I found a nice mini chandlier at lowes for 88 dollars I think it's the one I'm going to get if it is still there on payday.

I also found a 7.00 Birds Nest Spruce for the driveway bed. It's going to create a smaller evergreen to go next to the cypress. Then in front of those two I'm going to do the Japanese Red Lacy Maple. Those are going to be my architectual specimens for that bed. Then on the shady side I'm going to shoot for Japanese Painted Lady Ferns, California bluebells and blue orgami columbine. The sunny side will be the bachelor buttons, ice plants, and lilies.
