Been working in my courtyard lately. Each spring I like to give a new look to both back and front courtyards, preferbly the back courtyard since I can see it thru my french doors and, I'm out there enjoying it as often as I can! :) I've added a number of things, changed a few things around.
I've added several hanging pots to my garden this year. Two new hanging pots are filled with petunias and the other is a new type of trailing pink vinca. Also trellised my bleeding heart.
Added a potted Asiastic lily with Hypoestes to the bottom of pot.
Pics will follow soon when I am feeling a little better.
I have a bare yard to work with this year cuz we're moving, let's hope removing turf isn't that back breaking cuz I'm all alone to do it
Helping the world one seed at a time
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
No "outside garden" to speak of yet, but I have lots of seedlingsgrowing in my house and almost ready to be transplanted into larger pots bound for the greenhouse. My hubby needs to put a new roof on my greenhouse and I'm also waiting for warmer weather. Sure hope to see it soon, for my seedlings are growing fast and need more room.

Have most of my veggie garden in and it's all up (still need to get green beans and okra in though). Cleaned up all the flowerbeds and been adding new flowers here and there and lots of them are blooming. Also put in some new flowering shrubs and several more trees. Still have a whole new flowerbed to tackle which will involve a lot of work--sure glad I enjoy doing this stuff, lol. Hey, kenny, good luck on creating your new gardens. Hope they all do real good for you. If you need some plants to put in, I'll post a list of what I have to see if there's anything you might want.
Hi Kenny, Sorry your garden is bare. :teer: But I'm sure wherever you are moving, your new garden will be bigger and better than ever. Are you moving close by?
Rosepetal, hello, Hope you get that warm weather you so deserve. What seeds have you planted so far?
MLN, Sounds like you do have alot of work/fun ahead. What new flowers have you added to your garden?
Everyone, share with us what's new in your garden!
Well new to the garden this year are the Egyptian Walking Onions and the Asters if they come up lol. So far they have been planted for 5 weeks and I'm not seeing a thing. Well except some miss placed moss roses lol. I didn't have them this year so it will be nice to have them back.
This year should be the year the blackberry lilies and the columbine I planted last year should bloom so I'm looking forward to that. The columbine were the ones that Bill sent me for donating to the run/walk last year. They are mixed so I don't know what colors or whether they will be doubles or not yet. I'm excited and looking forward to finding out.
Also this is the year the nodding onions should bloom. I'm looking forward to that too.
o cant forget all the new seeds i got from the seed swaps!! tons of new plants to try out this year! i also orderd the white feather hosta, and mouse plant, they havent come in yet, the pink p-grass has been shiped!!! just waiting for em to get here, and the cold to go away so i can plant outside :)
floweringchild, I've planted lots of flowers and 3 kinds of peppers, tomatoes, basil, borage, ornamental cabbage, I started geraniums from seed this year too and every seed came up, they're growing really well. Once I get in the greenhouse, I'll be starting a lot more veggies for the garden.

I just have to see these plants white feather hosta, mouse plant, and the pink p-grass. Please don't forget to post pictures of these. I'm sure I'll be hinting around for root divisions in a couple of years. They sound fantastic.

sibyl, Please, please, can we see your Willys? I will need to refer to my see catalogs to see what pink p-grass looks like. I do have an idea though. We will wait to see all of your pics please? Mouse plant? Wow, Jiffy needs that one for sure
tk, Sounds great, and lots of edibles ah? Hope you thaw soon.
Hey Penny Sorry about the frost. When do you think you'll feel a little warmth?
Rosepetal Sounds great! That is really good all of your geranium seeds sprouted. You must have some patience there huh?
This is great I can read what's new in everyone's garden. It allows for ideas as well as learning about new plants and flowers!
Well yesterday, I had to have a pink Hibiscus tree with entwined (ph) bark that I saw at Sam's store. I hauled it to the back courtyard and will have help Friday with transferring it to another pot. The asiatic lily sort of bit the dust shall we say so I think I'll use that pot for transferring. Well, actually the wind swept the blooms off. Guess I'll plant them in side garden. Wondering if they will re-bloom this season?
Got my Italian fountain delivered last week. I'm not finished with the under area but when I do, you'll be sure to show pics! I do love the fountain!
diane! we could have a huge party with all the willys! i got more today ! the ceramic shop finaly got done with em, alls they need is painted!
i got a card from michigan bulb, the mouse plant is no longer in stock! i wont be getting one! ill keep my eyes out for em though, they got to be sold somewere else.
we just missed the snow! cant wait til spring is spring! by then it just might be summer!
Christy, those mouse plants are cool. I can now see why they are named such. Did you order of yet?
I haven't decided what to spread beneath my new fountain so I thought I would show you in hopes of ideas from my garden friends!
I thought about mulch but I didn't want Panther(neighborhood cat who is here quite a bit) to think he now has a permanent litter box. and of course if he did and used it, I don't want the smell when I am around the fountain. Thought about lava rocks but I've only seen them in red (not the color scheme I was looking for). Okay, maybe I am anal. May use white marble rocks, or large gravel to cover the obscure cement I had poured that the fountain is sitting on for support. What do you think?
In the veggie garden I have Vidalia onions that are new, and I am thinking of what else to add. Perhpas some type of herb. I am looking to add a crepe myrtle, 2 Lavendar Pentas & something else to the back flower bed in a few weeks. I have not ever heard of a "Mouse Plant". It has me curious.
Floweringchild--What about Alabama Sunset Rock?. It is a Multi Colored smooth shaped bagged rock. That is what I have in the back of my house (Husband calls it my patio area) I really like it as it doesn't tie you down to a specific color scheme.

Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain!! .....
Sheri, Yeah, that's what I strive for, peace, particularly in my gardens! My new fountain has helped tremendously to do that. Thanks
Hey Barb, Hope you find peace and serenity in your garden!
