Good morning,

I have been gardening for approximately seven years and love it. I am a detail oriented person so I have asked and ask lots of questions. There are gardening shows on the radio in Boston which I have called with questions from time to time.

I eat raspberries every day and am excited about having my first raspberry plant this year. I want to prevent birds from eating these when they are ripe. I bought netting from a nursery which was expensive and wanted input from other gardeners as to whether there were inexpensive way of doing this. Should I ask this question on a subforum of this forum?

I look forward to participating in this forum.

Have a great day!

Karen

Karen welcome !!
This thread i s really just for introductions. there is a proper forum to ask most kinds of questions.
hopefully someone more adept at links than I am will come along help you.
But I think you want to go to the Fruit Forum whicjh is a sub forum in the "Food Garden Forum" .

But speaking for myself and growing blackberries, I had more problems with pests (japanese beetles) than I ever did with birds. In all the years I had berries I never once used netting. why But that is just me.

Hi Karen. I had a ton of raspberries at the last place we lived-- right in the city-- and I never had any trouble with birds, although we had lots and lots of birds. If you just want to keep them away, how about hanging some pie plants or other shiny moving noise makers around?

Great idea...our dollar store also sells reflective bird tape..never thought about it but it could be tied to branches.
