I know we've been down this road before, but it was a few years ago and I need suggestions. My daughter is going on a 10 day trip abroad in 2 weeks, and needs a camera. I'd like it to be easy, not too expensive, small, but at the same time GOOD!!! She will be in lots of sunshine and heat, so it needs to be able to perform in those situations.

Suggestions for anything between $100 - $200?

Well I own a Kodak Easy share ($80) and can tell you it's tough..it's been dropped to the pavement a few times, left in the heat of the car and still works great...Only thing it's not great on picking up the color purple.

My camera is a purple hater also.
They say none are perfect. Kodak easy share is a goodie.

Lynne I have a Fiji. Diane owned it first so she could tell you specifics about it I don't know. But I can tell you it works great and she loved it for the years she had it before me.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart?
The other heart was given to another for us to find.

I have a Nikon Cool Pix. it seems to be sturdy, I have had it in heat, and have dropped it a few times--it is still in good shape.

It only has 5.1 megapixels & 3X zoom, but it is in your price range. It works for most that I want---just not closeups on birds.

you have seen how it works. I use it on here.

if the camera you end up buying uses AA batteries, I think I would buy Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries. they last about 2 times as long--if not longer.

The only 2 cameras I recommend (as of this writing):

DSLR: Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black)

Non-DSLR: Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Dig...Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Black) ~$170

The 780IS also does high quality video so you can expect lots of good quality photos and videos.
