I am having an issue with one of my cactus. It has weird yellow spongy stuff under its pot. This started about 3 or 4 weeks ago. So, the first time I scrapped it off. Then a week later I checked under the pot again and I discovered that it came back. So, I took the cactus out of its pot and repoted it with fresh soil. Now, the yelow stuff under the pot is back again.

I don't let the cactus sit in water. I water it once a week. What is causing this? Can I stop it.

That is a harmless (to your cactus) fungus (mushroom) that reproduces via microscopic spores. I am guessing that you are watering your cactus more than necessary, but that is irrelevant... Wipe down the area around the cactus and the pot with a 'wet wipe' that advertises that it kills germs etc. if it bothers you.
Personally, I have a yellow fungi living in my Begonia Rex's pot that I have been studying and nurturing... just because it's a pretty plant (in my humble opinion)....

Yes, my stuff looks a bit like that. It looks like a sponge is growing under the pot. I don't think I overwater my cacti. I will clean the bottom with rubing alcohol. I will let my cactus dry out a bit also.

Thanks!
