Built a trellis, one with nylon trellis material and scrap wood as supports, and another trellis out of fallen twigs and branches. Tilled some soil and mixed in new soil and manuer. And talked to the Blue Jade corn seedlings that I have in two giant planters by my garage. The talking was the hard part.

4-7-10 I planted a tree.

4-8-10...I prepared a few pots for planting and weeded some in my flower garden back of the deck. Really I am as of yet afraid to weed too much, as a few of the "green plants" are as of yet unrecognizable. They are too small.
One would NOT want to pull out returning flowers after all. nono

isn't that the truth?? I use the philosophy if it is in a clump--don't pull----and hey there is no way to know if you were wrong or not so it works, right???

yep that is the truth. Rod might or might not know.

My dad would probably know, but to get him to come over to look at tiny flower/weed leaves might be pushing it a bit.

but yes, it keeps things exciting I guess.

yes probably, barb, but he is 83 & kinda does as he pleases these days in regards to gardening.
his dad's family had a greenhouse in England, or so I am told. As a child his dad & most of his 9 other brothers, made garden in their yard. They used about the whole yard. But I guess to feed 12 kids during the depression they had to.
They had grapes too. Grandma would make jelly along with all the canning she would do to prepare for winter.

I was going to put in blackberries this spring. But I think I may wait till fall & use the space to plant my SUNFLOWERS.

I asked my dad if he has space that I could borrow for my sunflowers,& while he said yes, I do not htink he was too anxious for me to "borrow' some of his garden area.

Today I set out to plant my sunflowers, as spring frost date has come & gone--BUT instead I......

planted some purple coneflowers seeds from plants that my 30 year old DD brought home 15 years ago.
then I re-set/cleaned out my red pavers that make up my "sidewalk" thru my rock garden.
Then I cleaned out the edging bricks to said rock garden, and hand trimmed the grass along the outside of them.

Then I weeded my flower bed (probaqbly tore out some volunteer osteos)

Then I weeded around 1 small tree & 2 bushes that have mini fencing around them in the back yard.

I AM ONE TIRED PUPPY !!!!!

Cool bench Juniegirl. I have a kneeling pad but I don't use it much. I forget to carry it around.

Today 1 handed I planted some squash plants and gourd plants. My seeds aren't germinating correctly. I have gourd seeds in jiffy pots for 3 months now, a few have come up, and just today 3 more broke the soil. I did have 8 squash that were about the same size but some of them are still tiny.

Yesterday I put out 3 cherokee purple tomatoes and 1 german johnson.

yesterday I weeded some and laid a few cardboard boxes flattend out in the ailes. Then, I planted some deer tolerant and bee/butterfly friendly flowers in there. the deer are STILL getting in the garden. I give up for this year. this year I'm only putting in tomatoes, herbs and flowers.

don't give up Cricket. It sounds gross but if you get your husband or dog to pee his line every day the deer will leave your garden alone. We have deer in our pecan orchard almost every day and the don't come near the garden. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I'm got some squash and cucumber plants to put out this afternoon. It's hard being a one handed person.
