I am having some font size issues and doing some polishing. This won't go live until I have done so re re-working on 20-30 directory and leader pages. (a few days? idea )

Do you remember me mentioning a while back about someone starting up a
garden-dash-helper web site to get a free ride on TGH name? devil I added a subtle comment for them on this page....
This is the page I am working on....

I wasn't here for a bit so I know nothing about the other 'wanna-be site'. I'm liking the 'no dash here' comment lol good one.

I read the whole page before going up and finding the no-dash line. It works. It is a good intro.

It was in bold originally.... I also made myself set a limit of only adding that line to ten pages, but did you notice that I added a link to the 'Gardening on the Web' I thought about linking to Time, but the link I used says it better!

well I like the idea of bold print too, but if you think it wiser not to do that , then why not make the font of that comment a bit larger so no one missess the comment why

For the past ten or twelve days straight I have been putting in 12-16 hour days, trying to make a self imposed deadline for my site upgrade of the first day of spring... TODAY!
For the past 3 days I did some very intense editing (I made edits to over 800 pages on Wednesday alone and fixed 60 pages this morning). Most of what got changed won't be noticable to you, but your browser and computer will know...
Mainly I just wanted to repair my html coding from 10 years ago, but I also did a lot of minifying of the code to make the pages load a little faster. (minifying involved removing thousands of sections of long but unnecessary coding from links on the pages)

As for my deadline and goal of upgrading every page... I didn't make it, but I managed to finish up all of the Directory type pages, most of the "How To" guides, fixed the plant zone maps, a little of this and some of that.
I even put together a new page (or two). I can't even remember what else....

I still have a couple (few?) hundred less critical pages to upgrade (easy but time consuming) and more work to do on picking the best links to use on pages and stuff like that but I think the navigation on TGH will be much easier now, and people will start finding some of the long lost and forgotten pages again...

Now you know why you haven't seen much of me lately....

Now I am finally going to get to go out and PLAY in the GARDENS and I'm heading there now!!! grin

HAPPY SPRING!

I am still working on optimizing the pix so they load faster, then there will be lots more (many, many that have never been seen before). I am glad I finally figured out how to get the pix to load without a full size browser so the directory page won't disappear and be forgotten (loads faster this way too)
I'll fix beauty berry... thanks!

You have such beautiful photos, Bill!

Brass Buttons took me to a post w/ photos rather than to just a photo.

Bethlehem Sage and Blue Lungwort took me to a different page rather than just opening a window. Did you mean to do that?

Wow, those photos are just great!

Those are remnant links that will be changed. A lot of them were from the days when I did the desktop of the day, but didn't add any growing data... just pictures or occasional forum topics. There will be more pix soon...

I echo what the others have said, but want to add--that will be so helpful for people to visualize a flower when they want to find just the right flower for a certain spot in thier garden. clap thumbup
Kudos to you for all the hard work!!!!!

and yes, the only one that came up with no picture for me was the beauty berry, just like Tina said.

Just wondering why you have a question graemlin here Carol?

Thanks for using my picture Bill - as I told you - it's an honor!

And thanks for reminding me to start some seeds. I had totally forgotten about them! I love this plant because it definitely brings a tropical look to my deck with its huge leaves. I grow it there to keep it out of harm's way.

A reminder to all - this plant is HIGHLY toxic, so if you are going to grow it, please keep it away from inquisitive children and pets.

Lynne, thanks for the reminder--no kids yet but my grandpuppies are the plant chewing kind.

the question was because when I wrote it I could not see the photo. However, by the time Bill posted, I was able to see it. bop
