I saw my first one in early April and by now I usually see them everyday multiple times a day....and that just isn't happening at all....it really makes me sad. My friends in Carlsbad, CA said they havent' seen that many either. Any thoughts? Iggygal

Now this happens every year about the last week before the hummers leave for the season. It frightens me that it is happpning now---it is nowhere near the middle of October after all. I would continue to put out nectar and enjoy the visits. By the way... on my advice, a friend here put out a feeder a few weeks ago. Did not see a single hummer until this morning!

We are OVERRUN with Cicadas as is typical for this time o' year. The temperature hit 103 degrees here today. I have been sick and throwing up this evening, due to the excessive heat. I am a WINTER person. Kingdoms RAGE and go to war...but the PEasants plant potatoes.. EARTH FIRST! (we'll strip-mine the OTHER planets later.)

I did a thorough cleansing and FRESH nectar filling of ALL my Hummer feeders, yesterday and today, the hummers arrived. Since My wife passed this week I have more time and money to devote on the birds, so I got 40 pounds of BOSS, 3 new suet Cakes, a NEW tube Feeder and Hummer feeder supplies. The work is ALREADY paying off. Birds are arriving by the SCORE!!! Kingdoms RAGE and go to war...but the PEasants plant potatoes.. EARTH FIRST! (we'll strip-mine the OTHER planets later.)

I didnt fill my feeders for a day or so--so now in 1 day the one feeder is just about full yet, but even though I have not seen hordes of hummers today the 1 feeder is still almost empty. again I am thinking we here in IL are going to have an early fall/winter... It's on top of a hill so my wife and I won't have to worry about floods. There's LOTS of deer and coyotes there I am told. Right now I am processing Hummer pictures. It's BUBBA HUM!....the male Hummer that was born in my yard two years ago. He's back for the second year in a row.
