well so far only 1 of them have anything planted in them. today I planted a tomato plant that Rod bought for me. I am still thinking on putting in basil with it--we shall see---

In another one I plan on putting the new butterfly bush--it has be "designed" especially for container gardening it is called Lo & Behold Blue Chip.

my container on the front porch will get annuals planted in it----and then we shall see IF I will plant anything in my remaining containers---I will keep you posted

I'm thinking of the basil with tomatoes thing too Carol Jean. Wonder how close they have to be to work?

Sheri, I really have no idea--but if we are using pots then I figure as long as they are in the pot then we are good to go???

I think if I can find a smaller variety plant I will get a basil this next thursday.

well I did not ever get a basil plant. Instead I got 2 tomato plants---and the first plant didn't make it. They are planted in clay--I am not real happy about that, I think I wl have to get different dirt next year.

So, Sheri--what did you end up doing ???

I have basil growing in the same garden as the tomatoes but not the same row. My tomatoes have tasted better and been redder and juicier than ever before but I don't think it's the basil. I think the weird weather is to blame. It took them forever to ripen, I have a gazillion green tomatoes on the vine now, but when they finally do they are wonderful.

Well I don't have quite THAT many but I do have some green tomatoes, Sheri. I vote you take a few of those gazillion green tomatoes and fry them up.---instead of salt & pepper use lemon pepper to season them with. That combo is quite awesome.

There is a guy at Rod's work that has been keeping me in tomatoes.--So much so that I think I will freeze some to use this winter. thumbup

I am glad that I read this again. it reminded me that I need to get new soil for my pots this year. I figure that will make Rod happy as most of our back yard is low & needs all the help it can get.
