See you all in a bit when the old CH closes.

Unfortunately, Carol, all I can offer you fresh from Maine is lobster. The king crabs will have to be from Alaska. Down in Delaware/Maryland you can get most excellent crab but up here is a different type and you can't eat the legs! yikes

Safe away home O palies mine and sweet dreams to you all.

hey I'll eat the lobster---we can test maine Lobster against the alaskan crab--sounds like a good idea to me---

good might Merme--I think I'll call it a night as well.

sleep tight everyone--- wavy

Yes, Lynne, I saw that your area is also under a heavy blanket of very cold air! Are you guys breaking local records or what? I hope your home is nice and snug...

Maxi & his friends are out playing in it which they usually do not do when it is this cold. I told him to gear up. I hope he did!

Hi everyone! Today the sun is out, despite the weather people saying rain. It's a bit chilly but no too bad. We've had a very nice, mild, Seattle winter and I'm thankful for that. Busy day ahead of me today. Right now I'm cooking breakfast, eggs benedict, then the girls and I have an appointment to get our nails done. I have to make a cheesecake and a pan of brownies today. Then I still have dinner to make tonight. I got the laundry mostly done yesterday so at least I don't have that to worry about. Got to get to bed early tonight because tomorrow's our big day! Then I'm off all week so I'll be able to post pictures and stuff. Have a great weekend and stay warm!

Hi Cheryl busy girl. Nice to see you on!

My attendant doesn't have heat in her car. She saved up the money to buy a heating coil but no one wants to put it in for her until spring. It is, apparently, a pain in the neck job and anyone who doesn't have a garage doesn't want to be out working on cars. Not to mention if they have to go under the thing.

So, I found out about 12 volt portable heaters/defrosters that plug into your cigarette lighter. They cost about $20. So, first thing Monday morning when she arrives, we are going to the auto parts place near me and I'm going to buy her one of those! Enough of her driving around in the cold and not being able to care for her windshield properly!

It is a good solution until she gets her heat fixed.

That is very nice of you to do that for her, Merme.

Our home WAS nice and cozy warm, til Don decided he had to drain the water out of the system because it wasn't working properly, so he shut the heaters all off while he did that! I was just about to jump into the shower when he told me about it, so I am waiting to shower until he's done. I do NOT need to come out of the nice warm shower into a cold room with wet hair!!!

Going to go grab some lunch now instead!

Cheryl - as we say here... Mazel Tov (good luck and congratulations) on your wedding!!! I hope you both have many wonderful years of happiness and good health together!!!

Lynne I hope Don got the heating water all squared away and that you were able to get a good shower in and not freeze yourself any.

We are going down to 2 again tonight and people do so worry about pipes and all when it is that cold.

I made some of those instant soups Maruchen or whatever they are called... the kind in the cup w/ vegetables. I gave one to Maxi and one to his friend Dom and one for me. Dom spilled his all over the place! yikes I have never known a big kid to spill like that! What a mess to clean up.

Maxi hurt his back sledding today. When he came in, he got his outer gear off and pulled up his shirt to show me where he'd whacked himself. I grabbed his t-shirt to raise it further and it was solid ice all down his back! I made him get his wet clothes off, jump in a hot shower and use the shower massage to thunk thunk thunk the sore spot and then put warm clothes on.

My kid always freezes himself outside and won't come in until he must!

I hope Maxi's shower fixed him up, Merme.

It wasn't our hot water heater that Don was fixing, it was the water in the pipes for our baseboard heat - which is working fine, but still making loud rushing water noises. That usually means air in the system, but he's purged it twice now. Hope he doesn't have to call in help - that is VERY expensive around here!

Any kind of plumbing repair is expensive anywhere. Hope you don't need to call in anyone and that it will work out okay. Thanks for the good luck wishes!

We got our nails done and they look great, they feel weird to me though, lol. The brownies are done and cooling, Joey's shirt and the girls dresses are ironed, I'll start on dinner in about a half an hour and then make the cheesecake after dinner. Plugging right along.

Merme, I hope that Maxi's back is okay. Boys will always take fun over pain.

You are so right! lol

He took some ibuprofen and is moving slowly. He doesn't remember the injury... just that they crashed the sled, his hat flew off, snow got in his face and his friend told him he was okay.

Yes, Lynne, I thought I understood what you meant about what Don was doing today. I am more familiar with radiators than I am baseboard heat, though, and am not sure what the differences are in terms of how it heats the house. Radiators use hot water to run through the system and boy if something isn't right the pipes can rattle, shake, boom, and do all manner of carrying on!

He is one hurtin' kid, Carol Jean. I'm too am hoping he is improved by tomorrow.

It is so cold here tonight, even indoors we are not comfortable. We don't even want cold or room temperature snacks... we want hot stuff! lol So I just fed Maxi some grits w/ cheese. That'll warm up his tummy.

I dunno why we are watching a sci-fi movie about an experiment gone wrong which makes ice twisters when we are so cold already, but there ya are.

Well, we are certainly warmer than the area in the movie getting frozen from ice twisters! haha

Truthfully, I'm thinking more and more of my very snug bed. However, I did sleep alot today already and don't exactly want to turn into a hibernating Mama Bear!

I told Maxi we will get to bed by 1 AM. He is resistant to that idea because he slept 14 hours starting after school on Friday. But I told him now that his sleep well is nice and filled he doesn't want to empty it needlessly! lol

Sleeping by a fireplace under a mountain of warm blankies sounds lovely to me, Carol! I'm glad you were able to do that.

Good morning, everybody!

It is always a little hard to understand how it can be so cold out there when the sun is shining so brightly! lol

We're not going to church today because I'm still healing, but we plan on being back to normal by next Sunday. It isn't good to miss too much!

Unfortunately, Maxi's back is still quite sore, so his plan is to take it easy today so he'll be in good shape for school tomorrow.

Phoebe...I dont know her--
hey, merme---If the offer still holds I will take 2 omlets for my supper (well one would be for Rodney)

well with all of the bad weather I do not think you needed to tempt fate & go out in it. (I almost did not) Hopefully the bad weather wil be gone by next week for you. I hope that maxi is feeling better today (But I figured with falling he would be more sore today that he was last night. and just perhaps another day of rest (& laying about) is in order.

My best of luck to him.

and ladies--I have often thought the same about the sun & the cold.

Yes, Carol, our Phoebe hasn't been on in quite a while so it is always wonderful when she stops in.

Maxi is going to have to see his doctor about his back. I spoke with his dad because I am so concerned & his dad has a long history of back trouble, so we agreed he should be seen. His dad also told me how to increase the efficacy of his pain relief meds.

Maxi has decided that sleeping on the floor might help, so that is where he will be tonight.

I think Maxi may have had the breath knocked out of him because he doesn't remember much about the accident... just his hat flying off, his face full of snow and the sound of his friend's voice telling him "you are okay, buddy".

I am so glad to hear that he is going to be seen----he is so young and I know there is a lot of issues in the world that would have been 'nothing' IF whomever would have been checked out & the problem would have been taken care of in the beginning, but it was not---

besides it will be so nice to "KNOW" if there is no problem.

It is very cold here tonight and I'm glad for our snug home and the pot of homemade chicken noodle soup I have bubbling on the stove.

I have an appointment in the morning for Maxi to see his doc about his back hurting him so. Hopefully, the doc will know what to do and get the kid moving around better again.

Last night I had to laugh at us. It was 2 in the morning. I was home from the hospital and Maxi was on the couch with his laptop and I told him it was time for bed. So I rolled over there to give him a hand getting up. Facing him closely, I locked down my chair so he could use the handles to haul up and I put my hands under his armpits to give him a little boost up. But I started laughing.
