It has been a very long time since I have been here. I returned about a year and a half ago. But so many things happened in my life, and I wasn't able to be active in the forums. I haven't had a garden or grew anything in two years, health, deaths, and moving 3 times all played a part in no gardening. I recently had back surgery #2 with a third coming up later in my future, but right now I feel good and have been out pulling weeds and planning for next years growing season. I hope to be able to stay and chat with some of my old friends and maybe learn a few more things about gardening. flwr

Welcome back Comfrey!!! wavy

I'm so glad you are settling into what sounds like a lovely place. I'm wishing you much good health and happiness from this point forward.

May I ask what kind of back surgery you've had - not meaning to pry of course - only if you'd like to answer. The reason I ask is that my husband recently found out that he has 2 herniated disks, and is doing physical therapy hoping to avoid surgery, but so far it hasn't helped in the first few weeks.

First of all Thank You to everyone for welcoming me back!!!

To answer your question plants 'n pots I don't mind telling you, I also had 2 herniated disks, One ruptured and I had to have back surgery (#1) I then did the physical therapy and also pain management, it was 6 years until surgery #2 which this time the same disk re-ruptured and also the one above it. My doctor says that both disks are deteriorated and that I will have to have the two vertebra fused in the future or if a re-rupture there will be no choice but to do it then. Of course these are lower lumbar. My doctor said as long as I am feeling ok then we can wait awhile to do the fusion, in the mean time I have to watch very closely what I do and how I do it....NO nono bending over ever, squatting only...boy were my legs sore until I got use to that lol

I broke my neck in a car wreck 10 years ago this week and had to have a C4-C6 Spinal fusion. I now have a Titanium Steel neck. That makes me a Cyborg now. I no longer need Oxygen or Food to live, just a good source of light to give me energy. I can travel anywhere in space without a space suit or rocket. These spinal fusions are great! If you need one, GET ONE!!

wavy Comfrey

Great to see you back!! Seems I'm almost in the same boat with you on the back problems...no surgery yet. Now I find I have arthritis in C5&6 of my neck. Boy, does it hurt to have to bend over to pull weeds, I think I remedied that by having a camp chair to sit on or either a collapsible foot stool to sit on. So much more easier than bending.
