It's not starting out on a great foot so far though... Apparently (with advancing age! ) either I or the receptionist at our vet's office made a mistake with the appointment to take Butterscotch in for his second FIV test. So it's not this morning as I had thought, but it's a different time than she had told me on the phone yesterday for tomorrow - she is wrong about that one.
And... I just found out that my mom went to the hospital last night! Ya think someone could have called me?!? She fell while walking up their front walk last night. It took 4 hours for a CAT scan to be done and read. Just found this out right now! Thankfully she seems to be ok - she will see her dr. tomorrow.
So I wanna know still... WHEN DOES THE FUN START?!?
But I did get a very HUGE mum plant from Don last night - it's a deep orange color and as he was sure to point out "full of buds!" Tooooooo funny - he has finally heard something I've said in all these years - to get the plant with the buds instead of the flowers so it will last longer in bloom!
And... I (we) are going to get a heater for the pond (for my "real" birthday present) so my fishies will hopefully survive the cold severe winter that the farmer's almanac is predicting!
happy b'day lynne. it sounds as if the silver linings for your day are plentiful (mom "ok", mums in bud rather than bloom, and a heater for the fishes )
Tonight we are going out for my birthday and my parents' anniversary. I always tease them that they HAD to get married, but in reality, I was born 6 years later. We are going to a nice seafood restaurant on the Hudson River - too bad it's another cold and rainy day out. Oh, well... the food will be good, as will the company!
Hey Lynn, sorry about the lateness, hope you had a great party! Let us know how the food was...I'm craving grilled shrimp now...

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
The dinner was delicious, though the entire meal was spent listening to a very young girl whining and crying very loudly! She was part of a very large group also celebrating a birthday, but the parents were not considerate enough to take her outside to calm her down - the rain had stopped and it was a very nice night by the river - the distraction would have done her good. The constant noise was maddening, and then her grandmother was shouting to the others at the table so she could be heard over the crying!!! This is a nice, somewhat expensive restaurant - NOT a fastfood place where this behavior might be acceptable!!!
I had one of the specials of the night - lobster alfredo - it was very good - nice chunks of lobster claw meat over spinach linguini in a light creamy alfredo sauce. Sometimes the sauce can be too heavy or thick, but this was just right - yummy!
However... my mom ordered frogs legs!!! So sorry Carol!!! I could not even look at her plate! I have frogs in my pond and I just couldn't bare the thought of it. She said they weren't even good - poor froggies!!!
OHHHHHH - I finally got a picture of the mum that Don gave me - see all the buds - funny man!
Lynne--what beautiful moms----Don did a good job in choosing them.--- I am glad you enjoyed your choice of entrees but I am so sorry about the small child. I often wonder why people are not more considerate.
About the frog legs----I am to say it--but I love frog legs----have not had them for probably 30 years but when I did they were good.
