On my screen (15") I have to scroll side-to-side to see the whole thing. But that is easy enough to do. I have to scroll right to see the sidebar.
I am just not happy with scrolling to the side to be able to read a complete sentence in a post. I can make the font on the page smaller and it all fits but then my old eyes have difficulty reading.
I am not sure that helps you at all. I love the design of it all and it is easy to navigate.

docs I have been working a lot on the meta tags for the search engines to hopefully find the pages better. Lots of work goes into this stage but you will never see any sign of it. I'm also having a few little bugs with the flash stuff..... Its coming along...

Over the years, when I've written pages I normally put a thumbnail picture appropriate to the topic. Clicking the thumb would bring up a page with the full size pix for wallpaper or whatever. These hundreds of pages have about 30 different backgrounds and color schemes unrelated to each other....

This is one of the plainer versions,but it is typical of all of them.

I'll use this template for all the photo pages, videos, screensavers, graphics, Christmas cookies and other such things.... if it works....

why

Q1... Does the initial screen view show everything besides the last column, or is more missing?

Q2... This page had a bit different layout. Do pages like [url=http://www.thegardenhelper.com/]TGH Home Page[/url} require scrooling as well? Same amount.

Q3... If one of you side scrollers is brave enough to investigate... I think that a different screen resolution might make a big difference for that page and may possibly even make the forum look better on your computer.

idea I'm just fishing here...

A1.It was showing everything but the column on the right.
A2. No' it came up full page fine
A3> What did you say? why
lol I'm not sure how to mess with my screen resolution other than making everything smaller (Ctrl/scroll button together). Then I can't read much even with my glasses. Is that altering the screen res? Or is that something scary like messing with the basic settings that a low tech person such as myself will end up messing everything up?

I didn't mind the scrolling much as long as it doesn't make me scroll to complete a sentence or worse back and forth for a paragraph. I get visually lost then and headache-y.

I didn't change anything....
To adjust your screen res, right click on the desktop, then pick properties then settings. The control panel will give you several res options. When you try a setting you will get about 15 seconds to quick check the view... click to keep or it reverts to the original settings. If you don't like the choice you can change it again. If the fonts come out too small but the rest looks great, you can fix the font.....

My problem with changing the screen res is that a couple other sites I go to (most notably Webkinz) requires a certain res or it doesn't work properly. I'd have to get a lot better at ducking into the phonebooth and changing than I am. But I haven't logged into Webkinz in a while so maybe....

teach The first time you browse a site (or in this case, page) it will take your browser a second (mili-second) longer to assemble the tables. and the tables might not pull completely together. The next time, your browser remembered how to put the puzzle together and had time together to shove everything to the left, like I told it to. In this instance, the "table data squishit factor" ( teach that's a coding term....) was equivalent to the distance you were having to scroll across the columns....
I sure hope that you're buying into my explanation as to why you didn't have to scroll the page on the second visit.....

Well,,, uhhhhh... rspb

ANYWAY! That's my story and I am sticking to it!!! bow

But the buttons work ....

The buttons should change to an "electric gold" font when mouse over them. If you pause the curser over the link you should get a little "info window" about the link.... (no, not a popup) Do you?
Is the Video Machine down there???
Did you say you use Firefox?
Is it Friday yet??

(Everyone, please feel free to answer too. My questions are for anyone. I just happen to grab Tina's posts to quote from...

My buttons do not change font colors but I do get the info window. It is gold.
I don't see a video machine. Under the window options on the left I only have google ads. Under thw hot topics on the right, only more ads.
I do use firefox.
It is Friday.
I also love the gnome on any page taking you back to home.

Check your security settings to see if you've allowed javascript. You can set permissions to allow TGH to feed you flash and java. (I wouldn't allow it if it wasn't safe for my use on the site) You miss seeing a lot of shiny grin pretties without the Java

Do the buttons change for anyone besides me?

The buttons do not change color for me either. When I place my house over them a description comes up. For example, if I place my mouse on Indoor Bugs, it says House Plant Pests. I don't see a video machine. why

.... back up from the basement. teach Both the buttons and the Vid player worked for me in Firefox, IE and Chrome... but then they would because I am their creator and they know about my delete finger..... I did observe that with Firefox when I clicked on Shadow, the entire picture frame lit up in neon green..... This was totally unexpected and rather shocking since I didn't put in any light bulbs over there... Its not even an electric picture frame! idea

This can only mean a couple of things....
notme I suppose some innocent soul could have accidentally misplaced a tag or a snippet and is already checking the code....

~~~~ OR ~~~~
The Gremlin that haunted my mystery drive a while back has returned yet again, If thats the case, it will be resolved with a shiny new computer.
~~~~ OR ~~~~

Since I am the only person to have ever seen these phenominums, maybe they are just plain old buttons and picture frames and TV sets and pictures that don't squishit and scarey sounds coming out of the computer and the absolute silence inside a vaccuum until he screams.... he won't stop... please make him st......

teach Module "c17" somehow fell out of place. Its back now and hopefully will work as remembered....

You know those 404 error pages at dead ends?
Ours looks like this one now.

I finally got my first ever page (this one) to be validated as "error free" by the W3C Yuppitys who make all the coding rules up just in time to have to start revising them all over again. They even gave me this Smurfy little button to put somewhere on the page...

I decided to test it out on ie instead of firefox. To see if it is different. It is back to scroll to the side on ie and after several times x-ing out of the page and reclicking the link and several times of refreshing, it remains 'unsquished'. No bells and whistles and different colors pop up for me. Other than the scroll thing it is just the same as it is on firefox.
Bill, I am not complaining. Just trying to report what I see.

I love the way this page tells you you have come to the wrong place. It doesn't leave you feeling uncomfortably like you tried to go on forbidden ground like some do.
And the title is stationary up at the top of the page. I had to go back and look again.
