I'm jealous! I was wanting to order some, just for the novelty. That is so cool. Please, keep us updated! Where did she find them at, anyway?

thumbup i will
there almost exstinct here, big huge fine if you get cought killing one. there still attached to the pine branches. she found them in a pine tree, and sniped off the pine so not to harm the egg sack. whats cool is when they hatch out of their eggs they will hang to dry themselfs. so hopefuly i can see one drying and get a pic of it

you might want to put those pieces of pine in something (like a piece of styrofoam) so that they can get good air circulation - keeping them in a jar (even without the lid) would restrict airflow and you take the risk of mold/fungus forming.

it's been illegal to kill praying mantis in pennsylvania since i was a kid. which i fully agree with. not just because they are endangered, either. they are just one COOL animal!!

i hope you do manage to get some pics when they hatch!

triss i'll put them outside when i get a set up for em. it wouldnt bother me them being in the house, except id be scared of running em over with the sweeper. or somthing like that.

I remember when we first came over from England, and we had just bought this house we are in now, on the outside glass front porch door was a Praying Mantis, had know idea what it was, I thought it was one of those joke rubber insects that you frighten people with, so I picked it up, and was laughing, until it moved, I think I passed out, it was such a shock, thank goodness I did'nt kill it, I mean it was big, at least 3inches long. We do not have insects like that in England.

Hi everyone,

I have some great photos of an adult praying mantis praying mantis....
He was on my front door area one day after work..... I had to go in the back door (of course I grabbed the camera) I took pictures from the inside of the house (looking out)
