I was out picking up sticks and wondering what grass I should plant (which is another subject) but I saw this on my tree.

I hear it's not curable. Can anyone help, like a disease name or something?

Looks like a "gall" to me... galls are produced by plants as a response to an insect that lays its eggs in the plant tissue. They are harmless to the tree. There are litterally hundreds of gall types in all shape, sizes and colors, they form on all parts of plants roots, shoots, and leaves. Hope this is of some assistance.

What kind of a tree was that on?
It does look like a gall, but there is another disease which infects stone fruit trees, called black knot.
The galls are similar when green, but turn black when mature.

Sorry about the clarity of the pictures, they were taken with my cell phone.

If it is black knot, it is not curable, but you may prolong the life of the tree by pruning out the damaged areas, and making sure that the plant gets enough water, and fertilized yearly.
