Can azaleas grow in containers? I just bought a Herbert Azalea (grows about 4' high by 5' wide at full size), just a 3-gallon plant now.

I have a decent spot where I can plant it, but wondered if I can put this in a container to grow?

Thanks for your help,
David

there are dwarf varieties that grow well in containers, but i have no clue if the one you have will. they are always outside and green here.

you can grow it in a container. but you will need to be sure that the roots stay warm enough during the winter. That will mean using a large container. if the cold gets to the roots it may die.

in zone 5-6, the ground freezes about 6 inches deep. with 3 inches of mulch that is pushed back to 3 inches freeze. that is how plants in regular planters survive.

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!
