Sandy:
I thought those photos looked familiar. They are of Meremac Caverns huh???
WE have not been there for several years. I love to go there. Have you been to Onondaga Cave State park it is near Leasburg, MO ?? it is a nice cave as well.

Looks like you had a great time.

I was Vice-Chairman of the Nashville, TN, Grotto (Chapter), of the National Speleological Society (Spelunkers) in 1972. At that time I spent More time UNDERGROUND than I did ABOVE ground. Tennessee has the most caves in the U.S. followed (in descending order) by Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and Missouri.

Daniel Boone died and was buried in a Cave in Missouri. Jesse James hid out in caves in Tennessee (I've been to the cave) in Nashville, TN, and in Missouri.

Health problems keep me out of caves, now, but I LOVE them DEARLY.

shock My 8th great Uncle is the Famous Daniel Boone.
Are we talking about the same Daniel Boone?? why

My Sister Jayhawk has traced our family tree back to the 1500's. Thru intensive research and help with distant cousins starting back in the 1960's she continues to find factual information.
teach Our Daniel Boone was married to Rebecca Bryan. This Daniel Boone died at his homestead in 1820 in MO, and was buried there along side his wife.
The authorities of Kentucky came and dug them both up and reburied them in Frankfort, KY.with a monument because most of his life's work of expeditions and discoveries was spent in KY.
The coffin of Squire Boone (Daniel's youngest brother) is in a cave in Corydon, Indiana. He was buried there because he discovered that cave and really like the cave and said when he died he wanted to be buried there. Two brothers who were direct descendants from Squire went into the cave in the 1960's( teenagers at the time) and discovered his remains.
Since the discovery the remains have been moved to a larger cave and that cave to date is a tourist attraction. "Squire Boone Cavern" In Corydon ,Indiana.
If we're Not talking about the same one I'd thought this information would be interesting too,! lol lol

If you ever get to south central Kentucky you can visit Mammoth Cave, the largest cave system in the world. They have several tours for visiters of all levels of experience.
