That is one beautiful bloom. I have yet to get my to bloom, but I guess I keep chopping it of so it gets bushier. So far it works. Anyways very beautiful flower.
I just bought a few of these today on a 50% off sale - they were $7 each on sale. I got 2 white ones for my parents - I had bought them one on this same sale last year and they are loving the blooms that just opened this week.
I also got a white one and a dark pink one for me! I hope they get a chance to grow here before the woodchucks find them. The last time I grew one, the day after I had planted it down by the shed, the #@$@% woodchucks had eaten it down to the ground over the first night! As soon as the sun goes down today I am going to go out and spray them with the egg water that has been keeping the deer off other flowers this summer. I am hoping it will help keep the woodchucks off it as well. At least until I can get to my parents' house on Tuesday to plant theirs. They don't have the same critter problem there that I have here!
Diane - have any more recent pictures of your gorgeous flowers? I wonder what happened to Belinda - she was supposed to post a picture of hers the next day, but that was a long time ago.
Thanks Diane. I planted my pink one today and sprayed all of them with the egg/water wash, so hopefully the critters will leave them all alone!
The tag on the pink one says it's a "vintage" one called Grenache. Though most of the pictures I found in a google search show much lighter pink flowers than the ones I saw at the nursery today. The plant I bought didn't have any open flowers, but has tons of buds, so we shall see. The one bud that is almost open is darker like the ones in bloom at the nursery.
When I checked under the deck yesterday before I left the house I was shocked to see that the 3 white plants were fully in bloom! HUGE GORGEOUS white flowers everywhere!!! I am just hoping there are enough buds left for my parents to be able to enjoy theirs once I get them planted today.
Gorgeous! Your green thumb is showing up well, Lynne. I've been checking those out online. I need to slap my hands and slow down. I have so much to do still to the bones of my garden before I can add any more than I have purchased already.

Thanks Tina and Jessica. Though I really can't take credit for green-thumbing those flowers - YET - Tina! They were in the pots that I bought them in the day before - I was just amazed at how many were blooming all at once, an in the shade under the deck. When I bought them none of the blooms were open that day.
Tina - these plants are late to show in the season, and later bloomers too, so you have lots of time to get some next year once other things on your list are accomplished.
Jessica - do you have any pictures of yours to share here?
Beautiful looking plants, ive grown them for years, just wish the blooms lasted longer.you can grow them from seeds also,it puts on seed pods when the bloom drops off,i dont cut mine back they will get bushy on there on more stalks come up each year then you can cut the root ball in half and replant, you can also grow them from cuttings,if grown from seed they will not bloom the 1st year but will the 2nd,i have some that cross polinate and get diffrent colors like white with a pink blush to them, when planted from seed,i love them for late summer blooms.i also grow red texas star hibisus and white texas star hibiscus,i will have seeds to trade soon i just harvested some seeds, and would love to trade some of mine for some of yalls if intrested in a trade,i will post a list of seeds soon,I hope to start a hardy hibiscus farm next year, again your plants are very Beautiful. your friend in gardening mike57

Priyanka, I sent you a private message, on house care for hibiscus, it's too much to type here.In general Lots of direct light, space between the window and your plant, and a good feeding program.

Wow...I didn't think you could get seeds easy from one. Mine never has seeds, and I Googled it and found that the plant is weird...needs to be pollinated by itself or something to produce seeds.
Mine hasn't bloomed yet but has a bazillion buds. Found out that parrots love all stages of Hibiscus to eat, from bud to full flower. Gonna see if Lola likes it soon as the buds get a little bigger.
the one I had in my back yard always had seeds with every dried bloom,, Just one seed inside. maybe the birds are eating the seed before you get to them Cindy?? I know if you don't get them in time the seed falls out easily.
