I recently had an infestation of root maggots. I was wondering if anyone had any oppinions on weather it would be too late to replant now or would it be a waste of time and money?

If you can find some decent plants I say plant. Everything around here is picked over and what's left is to big or sick looking to plant.

Not at all!! I'd say at this stage, and for most stuff, there are two things to take into consideration: 1) optimum soil temperature for seed germination, and 2) days to harvest. This table ( http://www.seedman.com/veggerm.htm#tabii) plus knowing the days to harvest (& your frost dates here: http://www.thegardenhelper.com/hardiness.htm should help you plan your "second" garden. Hope this helps!

Ryan, I just did some replanting today. I planted my corn in May and haven't seen one come up. I also couldn't find one seed in the row when I dug around. So today we replanted 65 day corn and we have gotten frost at the end of August around here some years. I know I took a chance but I had to try. Good luck with your second time around as well. By the way WELCOME to a nice forum.

here too,the plants are all picked over, but I went ahead and planted tomatoes after mine got rained out, the new ones look pretty good and I've gone ahead and started a few more from seeds, I'd say go for it.

Hi Ryan, I would definitely buy some plants and start again. I don't know about your weather, but we haven't had optimum growing conditions here so far and I saw some people buying plants in walmart yesterday. There was a good selection there and home depot had very nice and good sized plants, esp tomatoes and peppers. Some that are there are a little bigger than when we bought ours, so that might help. Good luck!

Cool. I bought some plants yesterday at Walmart. They had a pretty good selection still....I was surprised!! Not too picked over. Got some beans and peppers, and plan on planting them today after work maybe. Good luck on you guys re-planting! Thanks Ryan
