Hello,

I have acqured some of the spent of flowers I'd like to harvest seeds from. One is an Iris and the other is a Peony. I had stolen...oops or acquired a bag full of spent blooms.

Initially I thought I had found the seeds but the more I rooted through the flowers, I was not able to find any more really tiny, round seeds. There was also, a yellow feathery substance inside the spent blloms. Can you tell me what the seeds from Irises llok like? I have tried to harvest seeds before. I didn't think it would be a problems identifying the seeds but I found seeds on the first couple and then I couldn't find any more.

I need help! I want Irises in my yard next year. That brings up another question, if I harvest the seeds this year, can I plant them this year? Or do I need to allow them to dry out until next year then plant them?

Needing all the help you can give me with this!

Thanks

Okay thanks! It may be easier for me to get a start from the plant itself. I have been thinking about starting a holding garden for plants I want to start. There are so many that I'd like to start but I'm not able to water as needed in the areas I would like to start them in. So, if i start a holding garden close to my other garden, I will remember to water and I can just transplant, once they have a good start.

Thanks for the info! I would have been thinking that I was doing something wrong when I didn't get starts.
