Are these easy to start outside? They sure are TINY seeds! I've never had luck with starting seeds outside - I don't have patience to find out if it is a weed or the flower I planted! Anyone have any advice on starting seeds outside in an existing garden? How to mark the area, should you plant in rows or scatter? I know those are questions that are pretty much whatever you like, but does anyone have a method they prefer?

I just scattered some seeds outside yesterday, in an area where I had done the same last year. It doesn't make for a neat and tidy flower patch, but I love the colors these plants bloom, and overlook the fact that it isn't orderly.

If you prefer a more controlled look, then I suggest you either buy established plants, or start them in pots first and then transplant them out.

definitely the transplant method for me.

When it's a plant that doesn't like being transplanted like the celosia or cockscomb then some kind of biodegradable pot is the best bet. So you can still start them in pots and move them into place when they are large enough that I can tell them from the weeds.

As you'll notice I've had to ask for pictures of the foliage of several plants because I wasn't sure if it was a weed or a flower lol.
